I'm not sure if any of you bloggers are from Carson Senior High, but I generally like to read the school newspaper--most in part, to see if I'm in it (narcissistic, I know). BUt there was somethign different in this particular edition-- I was mentioned in it as usual: I defended dodgeball as a true sport, and was mentioned in the Sports section, blah blah blah. These newspapers came out in my first period class, AP Macro Economics, then within 5-10 minutes after these papers were delivered, our school principle announced on the P.A. system that teachers collect the newspapers and return them to the main office. Why? Because there was an arctile printed there that shouldn't have been. Of course, being the curious and rebelious teenagers we all are (even our teacher), we hunted to find the controversial article--and there it was, the monthly edition of "Rambling Rogue". You kow what it is folks- it the : "Mommy, Daddy, since i'm too young and immature to make decisions that would affect my body, I ABSOLUTELY HAVE to tell you that I'm going to have an abortion. Obviously I either won't be getting one because I'll get the crap slapped out of me and my body could be possibly found at the gutter in the ravine tomorrow, or I'll still get one, but I'll get hell from you and eveyone who knows about it." Is it just me or is college the new hit reality show of America?
I'm serious. I'm not even in college yet and all the stress of applications, grades, and deadlines make me already dread what's ahead. It's not to say that I hate college, it's just that the overwhelming stress makes it feel like I really am in some "Truman Show"-like universe. I do believe that my peers feel the same stress and somewhat mutual feelings. Read More »
