F...Is For Fear

You can smell it. It is in the air. Fear is not far when the stock market is tumbling, banks are failing, and more and more bad news is assaulting us in every broadcast. The candidates keep swapping pokes and promises, and the generalities that sweep in their rhetoric is frustrating. Though it is what gets them the votes, so they deliver.

E....is for Eggs

I had a hard time deciding my "E" blog. But, hands down - eggs are the most marvelous creation ever. Scrambled cheese eggs are up there with nirvana. Eggs are always a frustrating thing to buy...when I am struggling whether it is better to try and buy the Cage Free or the Organic.

B....is for Booty

We've all seen the movies with the ships hoisting up the old skull and bones and lots of "arghs" and "avasts" to last any evening. Errol Flynn, Douglas Fairbanks Jr, the characters of Long John Silver, Captain Barbosa and Jack Sparrow all call up our childhood imaginings of hordes of treasure and adventure on the high seas.

A.... is for All American Thrift Stores

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

If nothing speaks about the economy, the crowds at garage sales and thrift stores do. I'm a regular garage saler and thrift store shopper because it is better for my wallet and better for the environment. Right about now with everyone else things have gotten tighter, so I'm definitely skimming the sales a lot more closely.

Me and My Shadow

When I was a small girl I was terrified of the dark, and it took a lot to deal with that fear. I would cling to my mother especially if we were staying overnight somewhere unfamiliar. My feet would patter behind hers and I would squeeze between her legs or grab onto her night shirt for dear life.
