If you think about it, most foods are not inherently unhealthy...it's all about ow you prepare them. I have heard that over and over again, but it didn't really hit me as hard as when I read an article on Yahoo entitled "Fast-Food Fries, Chicken Fattier in U.S." (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/diet_fatty_fries). If you are anything like me when it comes to eating healthy, then I think you should take a look at this article. Read More »

Life in Prison or Death for Moussaoui?
Overall, this trial disgusts me. To see the look of satisfaction on this man's face with every devastating detail that is revealed about September 11th makes every muscle in my body tense up with frustration. And then I begin to think to myself, if I were on the jury, would I vote to sentence him to death or would I want him to live a life in prison thinking about what he did?  Read More »
Fat Kids?
I was subbing the other day in a P.E. class at the elementary school when I heard this one little girl saying that she was fat. I kid you not, these were about third graders and this little girl was not fat? It's like we have two extremes these days, because undoubtedly, there are the obese children (as I posted about at an earlier date), but then there are the average kids who thi Read More »
Pooh on the Sidewalk
This is almost kind of childish and very light hearted, but I think it is great that Winnie the Pooh got a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He certainly has done his time in the entertainment...I iddn't realize that he had been around since the 1920's, which is a long time. And just a couple of random facts for those of you who wanted to get something out of this...Pooh was named after the stuffed bear of A.A. Read More »
Multiracial Families
On my drive the other morning, I was listening to the radio and heard that they were interviewing multiracial couples and asking them questions about being in a multiracial relationship. I don't recall any of the specific questions, but I do remember thinking them over myself. I think that one of the questions they asked was what their parents and/or families felt about the situations. I am not sure how closely knit these people are with their famlies, but I do know that I am very close to my family and that I do care what they think about me and what is going on in my life...yet if I loved someone, I don't know that I would let their opinion of them drive me away from them. Some of them said that, as a prent him/herself that it was going to be hard for their children to grow up multiracial. This is the reason my mom gives me for not dating someone of another race..that I wouldn't want to see my children suffer because they are different. Although I am not yet a parent and don't know what it is like to see my kids suffer, I do see where she is coming from. On the other hand, I think that we are seeing more and more multiracial families in the community and that it will soon not be an issue. Personally, I think that mixed children are some of the most beautiful kids. Regardless, I do not think that it should really be that big of an issue and that those who have a problem with the situation are somewhat ignorant and closeminded.
Family Time
Sitting around at my friend's house today absentmindedly watching/listening to them play Halo, I began to hear these voices. They sounded like little kids, and as a matter of fact, I think they may have just been kids. They sounded like they were probably 12 or 13, boys who haven't gone through puberty yet. I could not believe the words that were coming out of their mouths. Where are their parents? Do they know what these kids are saying? I think part of it has to do with parents not spending enough time with their children. What has happened to our family lives today? So many kids are from broken homes, and I really believe that this is apparent in today's society. Are we going to end up in a world where there are more single parent homes than there are traditional homes with a mother and a father?
Child Pornography
Well, I guess you could say I'm on my soapbox this morning...that's what happens when the news is on I guess. Child pornography is disgusting and unacceptable. Where do these people find any justification for such things? What's even sadder is that there are people in such high ranks that are being convicted of such crimes. It makes you wonder how many child por Read More »
NYPD Detectives, Oops, I Mean Mobsters
Wel, this just kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it? How many of our law enforcement officers out there are corrupt. You see it in movies quite often, but you don't usually think that cases like that are going to show up on the news. Maybe in some other country, but certainly not your own. It's kind of scary that these two men have been at this for 20 years...NYPD Detectives....with hidden identity as hitmen for the mob. It kind of makes you wonder if there are cases like this happening in other parts of the country. It sure does make it hard to trust the ones who are supposed to be looking after you. And as always, I understand that this is just one case making a bad name for all those around the world. I'm not trying to stereotype, just putting it out there.
