Cliques In Our Schools

Tagged:

Okay, this may start to sound like a rant so I'll attempt to make it short and sweet. Everyone I know belongs to or wants to belong to a certain "group" of people. This is very prominent in high school and even in elementary schools. Children and teens basically give themselves labels to try and fit in. There are many popular labels such as Jocks, Preps, Stoners, Nerds, Brown-nosers, Snobs, Rich Kids, Weirdos, Emos, Punks, Goths, Tramps, Grunge, Dirtbags, Losers, Oddballs, and, of course, The Inbetweeners. If none of these groups sound familiar then you speak a different language or never went to school. The labelling issue is not a recent development by any means. Labelling oneself is a popular addiction that we all seem to have, past and present. It helps to catergorize and segregate us and thats were the problems start.  Read More »

How would you help a best friend in an abusive relationship?

Tagged:

Have you ever been stuck in the position where you are trapped with 2 people who baby talk, fondle each other, rave about how perfect each other are and of course have those silly arguements? (ie: your so pretty! no I'm not... YES you are! ect....) Of course you have, but imagine that with your best friend and their other half. Slightly worse, right? Probably. It gets even worse when you hate the guy or girl they are with. Ecspecially when you know that they are a not so good boyfriend/girlfriend. So like a good friend you warn you friend, but alas only to be told how sweet and charming their other half is. Then when things get bad, you could end up with the blame. So why, you might be thinking, would I even bother? One reason is because you can't see what goes on behind closed doors. Your bestfriend and her oh-so-sweet boyfriend could be having fist fights and even worse, what if she was so "in love" with this person, so desperate to save them that she wouldn't listen to anybody? What lengths would you go to for your best friend?   Read More »

Teachers- Who is bullying who?

Tagged:

Recently I encountered a problem that I never realised existed until now. It has always been around but never really looked at. teachers bullying the students. I know that some of you are going to think I'm on some sort of drugs but I'm not. it occured while you were in school, my parents were in school and while my grandparents were in school. Teachers are using their power as an authority figure to bully students. This is an extremely inappropriate action and should be punished but unfortunatly many students are scared by the teachers and never have the chance to voice their problem. I'm going to help voice this problem and not let it affect future generations. Don't the children deserve better treatment in school?  Read More »

The Reasons I Blog

Tagged:

I blog for many reasons that are both expressive and practical. I blog to show my interest in something, express my opinions, support a cause I feel is a good. I blog to tell people about me. Blogging can also be an outlet for anger with something or to vent frustration. It  can also express how happy I  am with a current situation. I also use blogs to outline important events or occurances. Things such as births, death and birthdays can all be put into a blog.  Read More »

Peta- A Huge Exaggeration

Tagged:  •

Alright, for those of you who don't know about Peta, I'll explain it. Peta is a website were they expoilt the cruelty to animals to attempt to turn us all into vegans. They have the strong belief that eating meat and meat related products is wrong. The also believe that anything that has anything to do with animals is wrong. Let me put it to you in another way. Pamela Anderson is their "spokesperson." The most I've ever seen Pam do is flip her hair in another ditzy video or show that she is flaunting her hugely fake breasts in. What kind of oganization who wants to be taken seriously hires someone like that to speak for them? I wouldn't.  Read More »

The Effect Of Celebrities On Teens

Tagged:

Celebrities. We see them everywhere, but do we ever think of the things they affect our everyday lives? Probably not. That's where the problem starts. We don't realise how much they are intertwined in our lives. They are involoved in everything. We turn on the t.v and there's Brittany Spears and the danger she is causing her baby. Turn on the radio or put in a CD and you are listening to them. Watch sports at all? You are watching them. They filter into almost every part of our lives. Especially a teen's life. We do everything to keep up with current gossip, issues, trends, fads, issues. Anything to do with anyone famous is fair game. They have a huge impact on us, but the thing is; Is it a good impact?  Read More »

Pedophiles- Can We Make The Internet Safe?

I find it weird how so many sites don't have a screening process, don't you? Childrens sites especially. It's amazing how anyone can just log on, make up a false name or profile and get in. Their nobody screening, nobody checking profiles, and certainly nobody supervising. It's amazing how easily children get suckered into believing some 40 year old man is actually another 14 year old just like them. Why is nothing being done on these websites to stop this? Simple answer, if they took away the perv's there would be no business. So, you ask, what can we do to stop this?  Read More »

Ignorance Towards Homosexuals In Our High Schools

More than once I have walked down the halls of my highschool and heard the words "fag" or "dyke" leave someones mouth. Usually, like most others, I just keep walking. Not because I am afraid of them, but of what they will say. We all are. I know that anyone who is homosexual or even bisexual has a fear, like no other, in them. I only know this because I am among that population. I hear those names every day. I have been teased, tortured, had things throw at me and even been beat up just because I am bisexual. Why? I think it is because the human race is afraid of us. We are different, something new, something strange. I mean after all, not many people were openly gay in the '80's. We are just starting to make ourselves known now. We have gained rights and we have won battles. But why should we have to fight those battles and win those rights in the first place?  Read More »
