Clean your plate!

Tagged:

How many of us have heard that from our parents?  I know that my father used to make me sit at the table and eat until I ate everything on my plate.  I was told to be very careful about how much food I got, because I was going to eat it all!  I just read an article on yahoo that made me laugh.  This lady in Ohio, her boyfriend, and her two children were kicked out of a chinese  Read More »

Life in America

Tagged:

I have been doing alot of thinking lately about life.  In America, there are so many options available and so many paths that a person can take in their lives.  We get to choose if we want to go to college or not, what career we want to spend the rest of our life doing, and we can change our minds as many times as we want (financial worries aside).  And yet many Americans do not tak  Read More »

Making money off of the greatest American tragedy in history?

Tagged:

Am I the only one who is deeply disturbed by the making of "United 93"?  I think the fact that they have taken one of the worst events in American history and found a way to make money off of it is just wrong.  Nobody knows exactly what happened on that flight.  The whole movie is simply speculation.  I understand that the people who wrote this screenplay were possibl  Read More »

What religion is right for me?

Tagged:  •

I have been battling religion for a long time now.  I was raised Christian, but had a change of heart after a very tragic experience in my life.  Ever since I've just been living my life without religion and didn't really think that I needed one.  Then I started dating a man who is Muslim, and I started considering the religion aspect again.  I have a severe issue with  Read More »

Books you HAVE to read

I have to post a blog about Augusten Burroughs.  He is my favorite author of all time.  His books are horrifying, hilarious, and a little bit weird all at the same time.  I've never found an author who writes quite like him.  His first novel was called "Sellevision", which is about a tv station that is alot like QVC.  His second novel is called "Running  Read More »

Living life to the fulliest

Last October, me and my best friend decided that we were going to go skydiving.  I have always wanted to do this, so we just decided to go for it.  We went to the place in Chicago, and got dressed in the coverall-type outfits that you wear when you jump.  We boarded the plane (it was like a cargo plane, with no seats) and we were all crammed in the plane, about twenty of us.  We were doing what is called a tandem jump (a jump with an instructor connected to you) so we were sitting with our instructors.  My friend jumped before me, and when he approached the door to get ready to jump, I got really scared and was like "I CAN'T DO THIS!"  My instructor said "Ummm, yeah you can and you're going to!"  And then we were outside of the plane.  It was the craziest experience that I had ever had and completely unexplainable.  It was completely amazing and a once in a lifetime experience.  The adrenaline rush was unbelieveable.  Once the parachute was pulled, we drifted slowly down to the ground and the view was gorgeous.  This was one of the best days of my life and I think that everyone should do this at least once in their lifetime.  I still would life to go scubadiving in the Great Barrier Reef and go white-water rafting.  That's my next goal!  If there's anything that you really want to do but you are afraid of what it might be like or that you may not be able to do it, just go for it!  Life is toooo short!

The worst way to die??

Tagged:

What would you consider the worst way to die?  I have always thought that the worst way to die would have to be either drowning, burning alive, or falling to your death.  I was watching the preview to the movie "Poseidon" last night and it definitely confirmed my fear of drowning!  In the part I saw, these people were trapped in a compartment of the boat and it was rapidly  Read More »

Parental Control

I met a man in 2004 that I immediately fell head over heals in love with.  From the first second I saw him, I knew he was the one.  After about 4 months of dating, he told me that our relationship was a secret from his entire family because he was not allowed to date.  He was Egyptian, and his family only allowed for an arranged marriage.  I decided to continue with the relatio  Read More »
