Walking Across America

Tagged:  •

Has everyone heard about the man who walked across America yet?  This is news to me and I thought I would share it with any of you who have not heard it yet either.

Steve Vaught walked from California to New York City, which took more than a year.  He began the journey to lose weight, but also to find happiness.  He began the journey from his home in Ocenaside, CA, on April 10, 2005.  He weighed 410 pounds and was suffering from severe depression over an accident involving the death of two pedestrians over 15 years ago.  During the trip, he lost about 100 pounds.  He slept in tents and motels.  He went through 15 pairs of shoes, more than 30 pairs of socks, and 6 backpacks.  He never measured the mileage or how much food he ate.  He says that the journey was not about numbers, but having the time to think and get his life back together.   Read More »

Modeling: Positive or negative?

So I was watching "8th and Ocean", a show on MTV about models living in apartments together and their daily lives.  I'm pretty much addicted to all MTV reality shows.  Anyways, on this episode the girls got paid $12,500 for 1 shoot!  I began thinking maybe I'm in the wrong buisness!  Unfortunately, I'm only 5 foot tall.  But even if I was taller, I st  Read More »

Eating disorders

I am amazed at the number of young girls who have eating disorders.  It is a very sad thing, but I can see exactly why it has happened.  When everywhere you look is creepily thin women, it makes you think that this is what most women look like.  However, this women most likely have eating disorders themselves.  A very small percentage of women are actually really thin.  Mo  Read More »

16 and a BMW?

What is the deal with all these 16-year-olds getting brand new cars for their birthdays?  When I was 16 I was given a '99 chevy prism, and that car was a trouper for me.  I wrecked that thing like 5 times before I traded it in for the car I have now.  But I am glad that I didn't get a brand new car because I would have ended up trashing it.  I went to a school that was  Read More »

The best tv show!

"Everwood" is the best tv show on right now.  I love this show!  Every week there is so much drama it's just unbelieveable.  Last night, in one of the most dramatic episodes to date, one of my favorite characters, Reid, tried to committ suicide.  Reid has been going to medical school and was expelled recently for cheating on an exam.  For him, this was the last straw.  He is an overachiever who really wants to become a doctor to be able to help his brother who is bipolar.  It was a very sad episode.  Then, Nina told Andy that she was in love with him as well as her current live-in boyfriend.  I've always wanted those two to get together, and although I love her current boyfriend, I hope that eventually they will.  For those of you who have not seen this show, it may sound a little bit like a soap opera.  But the script for this show is so well written, and plays out so smoothly.  I hope this show stays on for many years to come!  Everyone watch, it comes on Monday nights at 9/8 ct  on the WB network.

Turning over a new leaf

I have decided to move to Champaign, IL in the fall to pursue my career as a veterinary technician.  This city is only 1 1/2 hours away, but this is a huge step for me.  I'm 22 years old and have lived with my mother my whole life.  She is truly one of my best friends, and the thought of moving away from her and my other friends and family here scares me to death.  Most peo  Read More »

Only for virgins

I had to blog about this article that I found, I thought it was hilarious!

BERLIN (Reuters) - A brothel has become the first in Berlin to offer special deals for virgins with prostitutes trained in the delicate art of catering for customers who have never had sex, a German newspaper reported Friday.

The brothel in the red light area of the Kreuzberg district of the city charges 60 euros for a half an hour of sex and works within the laws of Germany where prostitution is legal.  Read More »

Want a face lift for mother's day?

This is an article that I found on yahoo news that I thought was interesting.  It's amazing how popular cosmetic surgery has gotten, and it's not just in the United States!

SEOUL (Reuters) - South Koreans traditionally used to say it with flowers or money, but now more are showing love and respect to their parents by giving mom and dad coupons for cosmetic surgery.  Read More »
