Takao Arayama, aged 70 years, 7 months, and 13 days, from Tokyo, scaled the 29,035-ft peak. He climbed the mountain as part of a five-member team. This climb won Arayama a place in the Guiness Book of World Records. Arayma started climbing when he was in his 40s and has also scaled Mount McKinley in Alaska.
