Tagged:  •

Remicade was approved as a treatment for Crohn's disease in children on May 19.  For those of you who don't know what Crohn's disease is, it is a chronic inflammation of the intestines, which can cause diarrhea, cramping, adominal pain, and bleeding.  This drug would be available as an injectable drug, and has already been approved in 1998 for adults.  The FDA believes t

Female viagra

Tagged:  •

I have wondered how long it would take before they would come out with something like this for women.  Researchers have come out with a nasal inhaler that is supposed to stimulate women's sex drives just like viagra does for men.  It's called brimalimatide (forgive the spelling), and the drug works by bonding with receptors in the hyporthalamus that respond to sex drive.  Th

Soliders who avoid war: Cowards?

Tagged:

My best friend's brother, "W",  is a solider in the American army.  He was in the first group of soliders to be sent to Iraq and spent a year there.  Then, he and his infantry were sent to Iraq for a second time, again serving a year.  During these two years overseas, his best friends was killed, and he experienced things that most of us will never be able to comp

Pathologist suffocates autistic daughter

Tagged:

This story has been all over the news in my city, and has shocked everyone!

The Saturday before Mother's Day, Karen's autistic daughter, 3-year-old Katherine, had retreated into her autistic world and refused to take a nap.  So Karen decided to take Katherine on a car ride to help calm her down.  During the trip, Karen drove to her mother's house (who was not home) and placed a garbage bag over Katherine's head, suffocating her.  When she returned home, she took her dead daughter into her bedroom and laid her down on the bed.  Karen then called police when she tried to "wake" Katherine from her nap, but found her unresponsive.  Karen even tried to perform CPR on her daughter before the paramedics arrived.  Karen was not believed to be a suspect and was allowed to go home.

Gun Possession

Tagged:

I understand that the "right to bear arms" is a right of all Americans.  However, I think that many people take that right for granted.  I know that people kill people, not guns.  But if the criminally insane people in this world didn't have access to firearms, then maybe some of the murders in America wouldn't happen in the first place.  I think that the constitution needs to be altered to take into consideration our present state in America, and make firearms more difficult to own.

Is it our fault?

Is it just me, or is every one else tired of being blamed for the breakups of Hollywood couples?  Paul McCartney and his wife released a statement Wednesday stating that they are seperating after four years of marriage.  The reason for the split?  Intrusion from the media.  Now, I understand that they media can be a pain.  I can't even imagine how hard it would be to l

The Queen of Jordan

Today, I was watching Oprah.  Her guest of the day was the Queen of Jordan.  I felt the need to write about this woman because I was totally blown away by her.  Not only was she totally gorgeous, but she was one of the most brilliant women I have ever seen.  She had such a beautiful heart.  One of her famous quotes is, "When you educate women, you educate the future.&
