Has anyone seen "Thanyou for Smoking"? If so, what is your take on the movie?

Fill 'er Up
Okay, who is disgusted with the state of mass transit (or rather the lack thereof) in our country? Gas consumption is one of the biggest world issues, and America is doing nothing but worsening the situation.
Sure, there have been energy efficient cars and corn-based fuel introduced on the market, but when I, living in a small town, see hummers cruising the streets, I think "what's the point?" It just seems as if no one cares that our "addiction" to oil will lead us to nothing but disaster.
Influx of Immigrants?
In reaction to a blog that I just read concerning the new immigration bill- I agree that it is sham. It sheds a negative light on legal immigrants living in our country who want nothing more than to live an honest, happy life. But going beyond that issue, I have a few more things to comment on.
There is much disagreement over the situation of migrant workers taking jobs- such as hard labor and employment in restaurants- that Americans "don't want". Some people feel that they are destructing the American economy; they're wrong. Others fell that it's a positive occurrence, because if immigrants weren't available to fill those positions, then nobody would. These people are wrong also. To believe that it is alright for any group of people to work in slave-like conditions and have no other choice but to accept that status of life is morally bankrupt.
wave of the Future
This is my VERY FIRST blog! I feel like I ought to revere the occassion, but instead, I think that I will cut right to the chase (or at least concerning this installment)
I choose to speak of the future. That is, after all, the underlying motive for speaking up about current issues: to change the future. I look forward to experiencing my future, although it is something that I can never attain, as it keeps moving forward (which is what futures tend to do). If I am to enjoy the future, then it is important for me, or anyone else concerned about their future, to stand up for what is right in the world. Now this is a pretty serious statement: stand up for what is right in the world. It also seems pretty broad, and it is. Doing what is right can pertain to nearly every situation; from refusing to do harm to your body, to simply throwing away a gum wrapper. Every little act counts. In order to live a full, purposeful life, one must apply their personal moral standards to all facets of life. If you would be offended if someone dumped their trash on your living room floor, why would you throw your own trash on the street? If the thought of your family member using abusive substances is unsettling, why would you submit your own body to that kind of punishment?
