In order for schools to receive particular funding, they have to abide by several rules when they are teaching sex education. These rules are taken directly from a government website and state that in order for a program to qualify for funding under the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996.
Turning 23 in two weeks made me think of some of the things I want to accomplish before I turn 30. Some are simple while others will take some finagling to accomplish. Luckily, I have a little over seven years to reach these goals...
- become fluent in sign language
- travel to greece
- backpack across europe
- perform in an open mic night
- get my masters degree
As of the beginning of 2007, I started a goal to read 50 books by January 1st, 2008. Unfortunately, I missed the mark by only four measly books, which is disappointing. At least I read about 40 more books in 2007 than I did in 2006 (textbooks don't count). Books that have an asterisk next to them are the ones I would highly recommend. Then again, I read a lot of "boring" books. :)
Now, I am positive this will illicit both positive and negatives responses. As a disclaimer, I would like to say that I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with this post, but I would like to get thoughts on the prospect of libel and slander.
Since the current election started in 2006, many citizens turned off their brain because they had two years before they had to vote for the future President of the United States. Now, a year and a half later, there are some frontrunners in the 2008 campaign who all have their own viewpoints on each issue from environmental policy to gay marriage to healthcare plans.
A great cause United States taxpayers don't even know they're "helping"...
