Just think about it, talking in the hallway in your school or walking down Main Street when all of a sudden - BOOM! - you break out in to song. Don't you just think it'd be fun to live in a musical?

Looking at movies or Broadway productions like "Hairspray", "Chicago", "High School Musical" or "Grease", you see that interesting plots or moments in life are dealt with by the group breaking in to song. First off, this will more than likely stir up controversy. But I feel this needs to be said.

I don't care if you are a teenager that has sex, drinks, parties, does drugs or whatever. I don't judge. I'm not saying it is right, but it's not my life. However, if you do do those things, own up to it. Don't deny it. It makes you look worse. In a world full of war and trying to pull together as a nation, lying about petty things like that...just doesn't make sense.

Also, if you do those things, it's your choice and you did it, knowing if it was right or wrong. And since you did make that choice, and you are ashamed to admit it, why do it? You must have known it was wrong. Am I making any sense?  Read More »

Is it doing "The Thizzle Dance" or doing another silly dance to look funny in public?

In the rising pressure from the media to be "hip", what is it that makes a teenager cool? So many teenagers worry about peer pressure and being in the "in crowd". But should you risk losing what intelligence you have left to become a cool kid? "I love Bush!"

"I hate Bush, how could you like him?"

"I just do. Why do you hate him?"

"Because I know where he stands with the issues. Do you?"

"No, but my mom says she likes Bush, so I like him too."

In many high schools this type of conversation is heard all the time. Students are taught math, language, science, and history, but politics and government is something that students rarely learn inside the walls of high school.

You think for all the pushing for us to vote as newly 18 year olds, they would make politics and government a required class or something taught in US History. But it rarely is, at least from the two high schools I've been to.   Read More »

My grandfather died on Thursday.

It hit me hard for awhile and then I got to thinking about things. Death is a regular thing in this world. A lot of times people expect it and are ready for it.
