Their has been an ongoing conflict in Oaxaca Mexico, a poor indigenious state often neglected by the Central Mexican government.  This confilct has been ongoing for over five months now and news of it has just started to spread to the mainstream press.  In May teachers went on strike, demanding a pay raise.  The govenor of the state Ulises Ruiz refused to negotiate with the union and had local paramilitary forces break up the teachers protests killing some teachers (the exact number is unconfirmed).  Read More »

Do they realy think we are this dumb?  As election year ploys go-this ones for the books. Desperately trying to cling to control of one of the houses of Congress; the Republican controlled Congress passed an immigration bill that was signed into law by President Bush.  This bill calls for the creation of a 700 mile fence along the Mexican, US border to prevent illegal immigration.   Read More »

General Motors/Chevy-Exploiting Rosa Parks, 9/11 and Katrina to sell Trucks!!!

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •

It's time to take action-write, email or call your local Chevy dealer.  Tell them the exploitation needs to stop now!  Tell them that you will not be buying a GM product until GM learns to have some respect dor the American public.

For those of you who haven't seen it, I am writing about the new Chevy ads trying to sell their all new 2007 Chevy Tahoe.  With General Motors on the verge of bankruptcy--desperation certainly seems to have set it.  What else could have led Chevy to promote their new truck by showing images of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., Vietnam, 9/11 and Hurrican Katrina?  While showing a montage of the destrcution caused by the 9/11 terrorists and the rubble of New Orleans--John Cougar Melloncamp sings "This is our country"-while Chevy trucks help to rebulid New Orleans.  Read More »

With the mid-term elections coming around the corner-and the country showing utter dissatisfaction with incumbants--the Republican Party appears poised to lose at least one of the two houses of Congress.  Democratic takeover of one or both houses would likely lead to congressional investigations of the Iraq war, intelligence failures and Halliburton contracts.  Nothing drives fear into incumbants then the words INDICTMENT.  And nothing will make them stoop as low...  Read More »

I am a college student.  i am assuming that most of us are.  From the blogs I've seen many of us are politically and socially concious.  So let me ask you-why don't the politicians care about us?

On November 7th the Republicans will cajole Republican leaning college students by demonizing Democrtas and Democrats will similarly cajole Democrtic leaning college students by demonizing Bush and company.  But the question I have is why should we care?  There are only two parties that can win and neither address the universal needs of college students.   Read More »

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

New York's long delayed and signifigantly underfinanced (expected cost 1billion dollars) 9/11 Memorial has just received an offer of a generous corporate contribution (25 million dollars) from Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald--but there are strings attached...

Lutnick wants all those listed on the memorial to be listed by the company they worked for-rather than randomly as the memorial is now planned.   Read More »

When the democratically elected socialist president of Venezuela spoke at the U.N general assembly—the above quote was the only part of his speech to be reported by the mainstream press.  In this posting, I’m going to provide some other quotes from the speech-and let us judge his speech based on the issues raised rather than the rhetoric that was espoused:
