Let's begin by defining the origins of affirmative action.  The phrase was first coined by president John F Kennedy in a civil rights speech he made.  Affirmative action in theory was a good beginning step for minorities.  It gave them a leg up after centuries of being persecuted and oppressed by white males.  Affirmative action tody, however, is not the same affirmative action of the 60's.  Today it has become a reverse discrimination for white males.  If the applicant to almsot any college is either a woman and/or a minority, he/she stands a better chance of getting into that college than a white male applying for that same spot.

Now we all know what's been happening for the past few weeks in the US.  President Bush said he was trying to get new legislation passed that would force illegal immigrants (the illegal ones being largely hispanic or mexican) to return to their home countries and/or be arrested for living in the US illegally.  This was met with protests in LA and other large gatherings of protest and demonstrations around the country. 

What is the difference? I have a friend who said, "i have no party anymore. the democrats are dead and the liberals are crazy."  Granted, I am a Republican, but honestly this is a totally unbiased question i am asking.  I honestly want to know if there is a difference and what it is.  Because many democrats/liberals lump the two together but im not sure that that should or can be done.

So I basically love Dave Matthew's music.  So over time I have created what I consider to be the Best of Dave Matthews Band List.  If you have your own list or amendments to mine you wish to make, feel free to do so...except for the first three. argue those and someone is bound to get owned, and its not gonna be me.
