The study of dreams has been poured over for centuries as to their hidden meaning, but are these studies in vain? Can dreams warn us to avoid harm or show us something important? I personally keep a dream journal simply because my dreams are pretty freaky, and I’ve gotten to the point that very few dreams (perhaps one every couple of years) actually upsets me. These dreams are those that entail the violent death of a loved one or perhaps to someone I don’t even know. Though the scary dreams we have as adults are actually of scarier content than those that frightened us as children, the world was scarier back then and probably affected us more. As in, the scary things when we were children were simpler. But I digress, and get back to the original topic. If we have violent dreams does that entail a violent nature? If you have a dream of hitting someone, does it usually follow a day when you were angry at them? Read More »

Do Violent Dreams Mean a Violent Nature?

If We Don’t Like Super Skinny Models, Why Are They Still Here?
A study was done a few years back in which immediately after looking at ads in fashion magazines and the models in those ads, undergraduate female subjects showed a greater rise in depression and hostility than did women exposed to ads without pictures with people.
Ladies: Don’t we sometimes feel bad about ourselves just a little every now and then when we are bombarded by these super sexy models? Even those of use who are self assured in our body size ocassionally wish to be a little smaller or taller, or have a cuter nose. Read More »

Don't Forget! GAS
Lol, I’m talking about the Great American Smokeout November 16th. This is a nationally recognized day that wasw established by the American Cancer Society in an attempt to stop people from darkening their door with lung cancer, mouth coancer, throat cancer, or anyother cancer you can get from smoking. The hope is that smokers will stop smoking for one day, hopefully they will stop forever! Remember 30% of all cancers derive from smoking and I remember X-Files. Read More »

Can Video Phones Help Us All Out?
Admit it. We all get tired of Cell phones in one way or another. Whether it’s the preson in a resturaunt that thinks his phone is actually a loudspeaker, the latest Fergie song going off during a movie, or the fact that I have no bars in certain rural areas, we’ve all regretted cell phones at least a little. This may pass quickly but you know what I mean :P. Now many phones come with a camera or video option. Read More »

Cops using Stun Guns on College Student Without ID?
CNN recently released a story about a University of California Library Computer Lab cop that asked to see a student’s ID. The student, Mostafa Tabatabainejad, was apparently asked to see his ID during a routine check, yet he refused, jumped up in the middle of the computer lab and screamed at others to join his resitance. A crowd began to gather and police used a stun gun on him, and escorted him to jail where he was later released on his own recognizance. Read More »

If Time is Relative, Why Have a Curfew?
I’m sure every teenager has to or had to deal with it : the dreaded Curfew. Despite my attempts to pacify my parents with long winded explanations about how time in the city is actually different than time in the country, it never flew, and I was subsequently grounded. Makes sense to me though – through the laws of gravity relativity time is slightly faster in areas of less gravity and is slower in areas of denser mass and gravity. Read More »

Is Carbon Dating Wrong?
I have heard theories that dinosaurs existed with human in the beginning of the world, and they were actually on the Ark with Noah. Those that died during the flood were covered in the layers of dirt we see today surrounding these fossils. The theory goes on to suggest that carbon dating is wrong because only one person came up with it, thusly they could be wrong. Read More »

Lemons Determine Your Personality
Can personality be tested in a laboratory? Hans Eysneck, a prominent psychologist who died in 1997, thought so. He felt that one’s personality could not be determined simply by describing one’s thoughts and feelings, but rather the underliying physical causes that cause the personality. Wanna see if it’s right? Do you consder yourself an extrovert (one who is friendly, outgoing, talks freely, etc.) or an introvert (keep to yourself, quieter, work in the background, etc.) Try this short experiment out and see if it works! All you need is a string, Q-Tip, and some lemon juice. Read More »
