The SCARIEST movie of the year

What is Jesus Camp?

It is a documentary following a particular faction of evangelical Christians who are rapurists, meaning that they follow the Book of Revelations as the word of God. The "Jesus Camp" is a camp which they send their children to to be trained to be Jesus' army in the 'Holocaust in the Middle East,' As was dictated by the Book of Revelations to herald the second coming of the Lord. Why is this so frightening to me, you have to see the documentary to understand.

The Most Underappreciated Movie of 2000

Tagged:

For those of you who have seen Billy Elliot and can appreciate it for what it trully means, we can all stand up and say that every should see this "fooking" movie.

The basic plot of Billy Elliot is about a coal miner's son in North England during the 1984 miner's strike. And Billy wants to be a ballet dancer, his father and family, are dead set against it.

Most people can probably predict the plot from there. His father eventually comes to understand and appreicate Billy's talents and he becomes a famous star blah blah blah. That may all be true, but the message of Billy Eliot transcends the standard "Strength of the Human Spirit" theme.

Why I will NEVER support Hillary Clinton for President

Tagged:  •

Hillary Rodham Clinton should never be president.

Now let's take a step back and analyze this statement. I am...

  1. A Woman
  2. A Feminist
  3. A Liberal
  4. An Activist

Under normal circumstances, one would believe Hillary would be my ideal candidate. I beg to differ I'm afraid.

While I am all for a woman in the white house, Hillary is not that woman. She is far too left to be able to be able to govern effectivly. Just because i'm a democrat doesn't mean I'm for radical change. If the legislature remains to be democratically partisan, and if Hillary is elected to be president, I think change will be inflicted that will prevent another woman from EVER entering into the white house again. She is really TOO radically progressive for the current political atmosphere, and she will be at war with the supreme court and their juducial revirew.

The Dead only tell half the story

Tagged:

On the news we often hear of those who died in Iraq, of the "price of war." But what a lot of people do not see, are the 10-15 people who, along with those who died, have been maimed for life. Those numbers are rarely read. Since I missed it on Veteran's day, I saw a special on CNN about the soliders in Iraq whose lives have been changed forever. I'm not merely speaking of the people who loose limbs, but the people who must be hooked up to machines for the rest of their lives because current medical practices will not allow them to simply die. People who have been paralyzed from the neck down and can never live an independent life again. Thir stories are some of the saddest, because their suffering, and the suffering of their families endures for years. As this Veteran's day weekend draws to a close, remember those who have died, but also remember those who live, those whose lives are worst than death, and yet, they must sojourn on.

Barack Obama in the White House? If only, If only!

Tagged:  •

Barack Obama is one of the most intelligent and respected senators in our nation today, but why shouldn't he run for president? I honestly think that Obama would be an excellent president, but I don't think that the majority of the nation is ready to have a black president. It is sad, but true. Obama is a relatively "green" politician, being the senator from Illinois has been his one claim to political fame, but already he has the personaity, drive and ability to govern. However, I think that is Obama runs, he will be stopped, by whatever means necessary, even perhaps assasination. There are people who are still so racist in this country that they would kill a presidential candidate to prevent any person of color to ever enter into the white house. It saddens me to think that, but I dont think that this is the year Obama should run. But he's young, maybe not this election, maybe not the next, but when our children begin to vote, perhaps it will be in a world where everyone is REALLY equal, and where a black man from Illinois can run the country.
