Planting flowers in the garden of my life... A garden - the symbol

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

For just about all of my life, I have lived in apartments and in other people's homes. Even when I had moved out on my own, nothing was ever truly mine. I was constantly in situations that threatened the need to move on once again.

Selfish volunteering

Tagged:  •    •

I’ve always liked volunteering. Call me selfish but I like how it makes me feel. I know that it looks good on a resume and that it is the right thing to do but I like how helping makes me feel and how seeing what I do makes a difference makes me feel.

Just a GIRL!

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •

I am female. Its something that I have no control over, I was born this way. Never needed to appologize for it as far as I was concerned but to some you'd think it was a disease or a handicap that causes me to be a menace to society or a human being that is capable of less. The love of my life believes with me that women can do anything that they want to but that they shouldn't HAVE to do it.

A truly extended family... creating a safety net for the children

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

Our family is anything but mundane. My boyfriend/future husband is 19 years older than I am and has a 20 year old daughter and a 21 year old son. The daughter is married and about to make us grandparents for the first time. My kids are actually my ex-girlfriend's children.

A cashier's plea

I am a cashier at a Super Wal-mart right now but have worked in a few different cashiering positions over the years. I've seen the same thing over and over again and it is really quite scary. I came up with a few little NOTES to those of you who ever walk into a store, buy things from others, or cash out with a cashier.

Eat your vegies! Schools going green in more ways than one...

Its a known fact that our country has an obesity problem. Its something we see everyday (I write this with a handful of chocolate covered peanuts at my side). Everything that our children are learning though, they are learning from us. From the ease in which to make a quick unhealthy meal to your avoidance of eating anything that may have once grown in the ground.

Country doesn't mean stupid... My tractor didn't steal my braincells!

I get a kick out of Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy don't get me wrong but there are a few people out there that seem to think that what these comedians are saying is law. They forget that it is just a stand up routine and doesn't apply to all people.

Boom! Boom! Boom! I can't hear you!

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

Our town started a new campaign called the "Lower the Boom" campaign. The purpose is to minimize the amount of cars driving around with music so loud that you vibrate 3 miles away. The hope was to actually stop the problem. It seem to have done little if anything to actually affect those who are causing the noise.
