A TRUE Friend

I am so thankful to have this person in my life, and think he is a good example of what a TRUE friend is like. I wrote this for my Creative Writing class initially...

You don't find friends like this just anywhere.

My Child for a Wedding Dress!

A woman in Iowa wanted a wedding dress so badly that she offered up her son as collateral. Her 4 year old son! And this is a relatively young woman - 31 years old. The woman might end up spending 10 years in prison for this. All I can think is...her poor kid. To have a mother like that...and I wanna know where the heck the father is in all this. Did he run out? Is he dead? Is he still around and just as shocked as everyone else? I'll have to look more into this story later.  Read More »

Don't Blame Me!!!

As far back as written documents go, people have always been reluctant to take the blame for their mistakes. It is difficult to determine whether or not the problem is worse today, but it cannot be argued that there is no problem. One sees it in the news, on talk shows, in magazines, and in everyday life. Most generally look down on people who blatantly try to push the blame away from themselves, when it is painfully obvious that they are responsible; yet people still continue to consciously do this same thing over and over again.  Read More »

Pro-Life? Yeah. RIGHT.

Tagged:  •

I could say a lot on why I'm pro-choice and why there is no argument against it, but that's for another time...when I get all my thoughts together. Right now I'm just going to talk a little about the hypocrisy of pro-lifers.

Prolifers care more about the fetus than the woman. They care more about POTENTIAL LIFE than a WOMAN who already HAS a life and people who love her. And it's not only that...there are many cases of pro-lifers ATTACKING the doctors who perform abortions, or even setting fire to abortion clinics. And they have the nerve to call themselves pro-life. I heard a story once about a man who broke into an abortion clinic, ranting and raving about how he was going to break the doctor's hands so they couldn't perform anymore abortions. It makes me sick. These people stand outside of clinics, screaming, telling pregnant and scared women that they're going to hell and that they're murderers. Some even throw rocks. VIOLENCE. That's what it is. It's VIOLENCE.  Read More »

Stop promoting obesity!!

Tagged:  •

It's not just that it's not attractive...it is NOT healthy! No, it is not good that magazines and the media generally cater only to super-skinny young girls, but it is NOT right for them to put overweight girls out there and call them "curvy". People shouldn't accept that, they should WORK and try to make themselves healthy! To all the women out there who glorify their obesity -- what is wrong with you? Is that the message you're trying to send to young people? BE FAT, IT'S A-OKAY! DYING FROM A HEART ATTACK AT 25 IS A-OKAY! It's like people today are obsessed with glorifying their health problems. "This is for all the fat girls!" "To all the fat girls, blah blah blah!" Hmm, last I heard, obesity WASN'T a terminal condition! Unless you have a disease that is causing your obesity, get off the couch, eat some fruit, and exercise!  Read More »

Gym vs. Health

At my high school, we only take health for one quarter. What's more, we only take it every other day during that quarter. Why do we take the course for such a short period of time? I know I much rather would have health every day for a quarter, or maybe even a whole semester. I think health is way more important than gym. Knowing how to care for your body in the long run is more beneficial than running around a track a few times every other day. Whoever really participates in gym, anyway? At my school, most people hang around the sidelines hoping to stay out of the way. In health class, though...in health we get real discussions going. Real, meaningful discussions. Hmm...meaningful discussions on how to live a healthy life, or getting beaned in the face with a soccer ball?  Read More »

High School Freshmen need to take Walker's Ed!

Tagged:

I really think that high school freshmen should be required to take a course called "Walker's Ed". Yes, "Walker's Ed" rather than "Phys Ed". Because, to put it bluntly, those little children do not know how to conduct themselves in the hallways! For example...there is a blind boy in the class of '10, Ozzy. Just the other day I saw him about to walk into a classroom, and one of his fellow freshmen thought she would be smart and slip in front of him. Well, he ended up practically bludgeoning her with his cane and falling on his face. It was one of the most selfish and ignorant things I had ever witnessed.  Read More »
