Strawberries Boost Memory?

It's not a sure thing that it works on humans, but recently, a natural chemical in strawberries has been found to boost memory in healthy mice. The chemical is fisetin, which can also be found in tomatoes, onions, oranges, apples, peaches, grapes, kiwifruit and persimmons. None of these other fruits have been tested, though. Just strawberries as of yet.

Unfortunately, one can't just start popping strawberries and expect to enhance their long-term memory. You would have to eat about ten pounds of strawberries a DAY for that...mm, doesn't sound too enjoyable. But scientists are working on this new discovery...now wouldn't that just be amazing? The answer to alzheimers, all found in a common fruit.  Read More »

Let's Paint the Town Pink!

Tagged:  •    •

Sample from the article:

PATNA, India, Oct 16 (Reuters Life!) - Authorities in eastern India are painting a crime-infested town pink in the hope that an image makeover will lift the sagging morale of residents who are fed up with the decline in law and order, officials said on Monday.

About painting this crime-infested town pink! It may SEEM like a foolish idea...but what if it works? Colors have been proven to affect human thoughts and feelings...for example, McDonalds wraps its food in yellow and red wrappers because those colors make people hungry. So this new makeover very well COULD influence the people to drop their unlawful ways. Which makes me wonder...why has no one started painting the prisons pink yet?  Read More »

Why does no one just PUNCH her in the FACE?!

**SOME MINOR SPOILERS**

On October 13th I saw The Grudge 2. I was just looking for somethig to make me jump, not a good storyline...which is good, because there was NO storyline! I went with my boyfriend, Collin and friend, Rosalia, to the 12:35 show because we're losers like that,

NOTHING was accomplished in that movie. NOTHING. You didn't get much new information on the story. You find out a little more about Takako's childhood, but it has NO connection to the thing that she's become. In the end of the movie, you're right back where you started. How many survivors? None.

This one guy seriously pissed me off. He's in his darkroom developing photos when Takako comes out of one of them. She just sits there staring at him for about a full ten seconds, and what does he do? He stands still, just staring back at her! And then she gets him. It was at this point that Rosalia turned to me and said, "What the hell was that? Why doesn't anyone ever just PUNCH HER IN THE FACE?"

It makes me wonder. In horror movies, no one ever tries to defend themselves. Well, not in The Grudge, anyway. Whatever happened to the human instinct to stay alive? To defend oneself?

It prompted me to write a short little story...detailing what SHOULD have happened in this movie! Dahlia is, of course, based on Rosalia.

Get out of the bathroom! I have to GO!

Tagged:  •

Is is so strange that I don't like to go to the bathroom with other people in the room? Especially if I'm, you know, sick. I mean, it's kind of a personal thing. But still...

It bugs me when girls go to the bathroom and then just stand in front of the mirror -- inspecting every strand of hair, every freckle, every fold in their clothing. Get out, dammit! Your hair is FINE, and I have to go!!!  Read More »

Who I Am And Where I'm From

I am
Anything and everything you could ever think of
To an extreme
The light from the sun that shines in your face
As you walk through the park on a bright day
The dirt that is kicked in your face
As you fall to the ground
Your hero
Your worst nightmare

I am from
Anywhere and everywhere
A home with boarded up windows
Inside a present, wrapped up tight
Many times over
Keep picking at the tape
If you care enough to do so
Have you found me yet?  Read More »

Sharing your home with a bunch of slithery snakes...

A couple in Idaho bought a new house, not realizing there were hundreds, maybe even thousands of garter snakes hibernating under the house and in the basement. Now the snakes have woken up and they're EVERYWHERE. They did kill the snakes for a while, but stopped after they found out the snakes are protected by Idaho law. What would you do if this happened to you? Could you share your home with a bunch of slithery snakes? Turning on lights and finding four-foot long garter snakes just sitting around on the wall right next to the cord? What would you DO?  Read More »

PETA Using Jesus...

PETA released a poster of baby Jesus breastfeeding. On the poster is written, "If it was good enough for Jesus...

The breast is best -- DUMP DAIRY".

I would like to clear up that I do not believe in Jesus. At all. I DESPISE PETA and it IRKS ME SO MUCH that they use all this BULL to try and sway people. Excuse me, Miss Ingrid Newkirk, WHAT PROOF DO YOU HAVE that Jesus breastfed? Where the HELL did you get that from? NO WHERE, THAT'S WHERE! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!  Read More »
