how do you have a press conference?

Tagged:

So, we've got this petition, and before we present it to the school board, we are going to publicize it with a press conference.... trouble is none of us know exactly how to do that... so my question to you is, how do I have a press conference?  What do I need to do?

What can I do now?

Our walkout was a success, but now our student body has a lot of momentum, and are unsure how to progress. If anyone has any suggestions about how to proceed, we would greatly appreciate it.

Walk out made Front Page!

Tagged:  •

The Walk-out I organized made the front page of the paper, and it made it into the three major papers in the state. This morning we got on an area radio show, and we showed up on NPR.  It was fantastic!

Here is the article!

walk out for teachers

Tagged:  •

Last night was a sad night for all of the students at Harrison High school. For the past two years, students at Harrison have enjoyed a math teacher with extreme expertise, and a willingness to work with students. This teacher has been exceptionally dedicated, not only in his teaching, but also as a class advisor, coach, and sponsor of clubs. No one can question his capability as a teacher, or enthusiasm for his subject.  Recently, he suffered an accident that left him in a care facility, which left us temporarily without a math teacher.

Why fight God?

I'm going to start by saying I'm agnostic. I believe that it is not possible to determine if there is or is not a God.  And I am at peace with that idea.

What drives me crazy are all of the people who do not believe in god, and spend there time fighting the idea of god.  If you don't believe in god, then it should not be an issue for you.  I said the pledge of allegiance this morning, and I said 'under god' along with everyone else in the room, and it did not bother me.  Saying "under god" does not affect me, because I do not believe in, fear, love, or feel for god.  However, there are these people in my school who make a huge deal about saying it, and they do no good.

The Freshmen

Tagged:

I recently discovered the song The Freshmen by The Verve Pipe, and I've become very fond of it.  It is, however, slightly confusing.   I've been reading on the internet about what it's suppose to be about, and there is some conflict in the webpostings... any input would be welcome!

Websense is...

Does anyone else's school use the filter Websense?

We've got it at my school, and it's a pain. I can't go to this site unless I use a proxy, because it's catagorized as "Advocacy groups".

What does the school gain by filtering everything mildly controversial?  They're suppose to be educating us, not sheltering us from the outside world.

Everything that we logically shouldn't be looking at is mentioned in the use policy that we all have to sign at the beginning of the year.  If we violate that, it should be their responsibility to track it.

Courtney Love is not screwing up America.

Alright... I'm reading this book, called 100 People who are screwing up America (and Al Franken is 37).

It's horribly biased, and I don't think that this guy likes anyone.

at all.

And Courtey Love, in his book, is number 97.

First of all, it's not like she's an influtential person anymore.

Only 50% of the people in the computer lab right now know who she is...
