I'm having a little trouble with my defining progress blog, so I thought to myself, why not talk about an entire continent that is seemingly devoid of progress? Africa seems pretty stagnant!

I think we're all familiar with the overachieving types.

I come from an unfortunate socioeconomic background.
I've turned my experiences into motivation to start a charity for underprivededged children.
Each year, I raise money at school for a third world country to send medical supplies, food, and clothing.
I've had an internship at a law firm for four years now.

For no particular reason at all, except, well, this one English assignment, I was pondering America's prison system. Just thinking about its virtues and its faults. And then, like a flash, there was this one specific statistic, once filed away in the recesses of my mind, that really struck me with full force. Sixty-seven percent of former inmates released from U.S.

I don't think anyone could properly deny the quality and magical nature of Disney films. The moral messages of each film enrich the lives of thousands of children each year, and they still enrich my life today. I mean, with the environmentalist message of Pocahontas and the message on inner beauty imparted by Beaurty and the Beast, who couldn't be enriched?

Ah, the joys of literature! For the longest time, I thought that books were just a convenient source of entertainment, a way to lessen stress, a method to improve vocabulary and intelligence. Most importantly, for me, it was a way to get lost in someone else's problems, someone else's life.
I was doing a little reading a little while ago, and it led me to ponder this: Do I even have a life?

Before I start, yes, I did nick the idea for the title from Stephen Colbert's book, and I am paying him due deference, so don't write a bunch of crap about how plagiarism is bad. I already know that, and thank you for being aware.

I was thinking about the 2008 election, and the democratic candidates especially. More specifically, I was pondering that subconcious question: Who has it worse? Blacks or Women? Who has been more oppressed? Borack or Hilary?

I don't think it's normal that sometimes I sit and think about the healthcare system for significant portions of the solar day. At least, not at my age. But I do, and Mother always did tell me to share, so I'm sharing with all of you!!!
