Welcome to America...now speak English.

Tagged:  •    •    •

I see a lot of blogging back and forth about people from other countries coming to the U.S. and not knowing English.  I've lived all over the world, and let me tell you, we are the ONLY country that caters to those to do not know our language.

In High School, I took French and Spanish.  That didn't help me at all when I moved to Germany, so I learned German.  I realize it's not easy to learn a whole new language, but it can be done.  In Germany, if you can't speak German, you can't talk to anyone or shop anywhere.  Yes, a lot of the German's know English, but their outlook is if you are in their country, you need to speak their language.  Read More »

Reclaim feminism???

Recently I was asked to explain what American women could do to reclaim feminism....

I am a very free-willed young woman and am not afraid to speak my mind. No matter what the situation, I’m always there to lend a hand, or an opinion, if need be. That statement, alone, says something for feminists of this world.

I am not afraid to speak my mind because I know, both as a woman, and as a person, my opinion matters. My vote counts. Feminists have gotten us this far. American women are, in every sense of the word, free. We are free to work anywhere we please. We can speak our minds. We no longer feel pressure to be the stay-at-home Mom. We choose our own path and can accomplish anything we set our minds to. I believe feminism is one of the greatest achievements of all time.  Read More »

Gay vs. Straight

Tagged:  •

I just got off the phone with my sister. Sad news from the home-front. A boy from our home town was severely beaten because his older brother came out of the closet this past week.

First off, let me explain, that I’m not from some huge metropolitan area where crime runs ramped. I grew up in a tiny little town. Population 300.

What I want to know is: Why does it matter?? Who cares if a person is gay or straight? Why would someone want to beat up a defenseless boy just because his older brother decided he was gay?! Who cares. If someone wants to pair up with someone of the same sex, that is their prerogative.  Read More »

Saddam Hussein Sentenced to Death....

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

On Sunday, November 5th the Iraqi High Tribunal sentenced Saddam Hussein to hang for the crimes he committed against humanity. I, for one, say it’s about time!!! I can’t believe there are even mixed emotions about this. After the torture, rape and murder he put all those innocent men, women and children through a civilized execution is too good for him!  Read More »

Legalizing Prostitution

Tagged:  •    •    •

Prostitution is defined as the sale of sexual services for money or other kind of return. By making prostitution illegal, the government was hoping to deter women from becoming prostitutes and others from using their services. With so many outside factors to consider, it just doesn’t work this way. So, prostitution continues to soar; as do sexually transmitted diseases.

It is estimated that over one million women in the United States earn their living by full-time prostitution. An even more alarming fact is that engaging in sex with a prostitute is the third most common way for an American male to contract AIDS. Sadly, the fight against prostitution is futile. There is just no way to close down a market between willing buyers and sellers.  Read More »

Down with Welfare!

For years my husband was Enlisted Army. The common misconception on the civilian side of the world is that people in the military are well-do-to. Let me be the first to say that junior Enlisted are anything BUT well to do. We were dirt poor and worked very hard for everything we earned. Since then, due to an injury while serving in Iraq, he has been discharged. Now we are out on the civilian side and my perception of the government aid systems has dramatically changed. I would say the years of scrounging for every nice thing we had really opened my eyes. My husband and I were discussing this issue on our way home from work one day and came up with a plan to “help those who will help themselves” so to speak.  Read More »
