A recent blog entry on this site really hit home for me. As an out-of-state sophomore in college, I'm already well into debt with student loans and still have two more years to complete, not even including grad school. I save as much money as I can spare, just so I have backup money for unexpected expenses.
St. Patrick's Day is a well-known and widely celebrating holiday loaded with the color green, traditional Irish foods, and copious amounts of drinking.
But I have to wonder: how many people celebrate the actual meaning behind St. Patrick's Day, and how many people just use it as an excuse to get trashed for the day?
One thing that I don't think I will ever be able to truly understand is the abundant lack of religious tolerance and acceptance that exists in the world today. Someone commented to me, "As a species we enjoy conflict and we love to feel righteous. If we do not get a proper dose of both, then we generate them."
I have just found out that Fred Phelps and his followers at the Westboro Baptist Church are planning to protest at the funerals of the students who were killed at VA Tech.
Probably not. I won't, at least, since I never watched/listened to him in the first place. In fact, I'd never even heard of him until his face and name became plastered all over the media for referring to the Rutger's women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos."
It's Tuesday night: fans know that this is the greatest night of the week.

Despite the debatable quality of the third season, I've still been pretty loyal to the show. So this evening I watched the new episode, found it decent, and more or less thought nothing of it.
Earlier today my boyfriend showed me a recent music video by Alanis Morissette: a cover song she did of "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas. Now, I haven't exactly been up-to-date with Alanis Morissette's music; her new stuff hasn't really appealed to me like her old, edgy music, such as "You Oughta Know" and others songs of that quality.
This is my first blog post. I'll be honest, I originally only planned to join this site in an attempt to win that nifty $1,000 scholarship. Then it occurred to me, the money shouldn't be the sole reason; I should express my own valid opinions. But do I really have anything valuable to say?
