Fiscally Responsible Sex

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •

I wasn’t raised in a religious household, but I was raised in a household where my parents taught me personal responsibility beginning at a very young age. That’s why I believe that no one should have sex before they are fiscally capable of handling the responsibilities that come with having sex.  Read More »

If You Do Not Support the Iraq War, You Do Not Support Our Troops

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

Any person does their job better and more effectively when they are supported. The more important a position within an organization is, and the more essential a person’s role is, the more likely that person is to perform their duties without distraction. In the military, a soldier’s job is life or death. He or she works every day in situations where it is essential to have a clear mind and conscience. The military should operate like a well-oiled machine, each person functioning smoothly and without a hitch.  Read More »

Food for Thought

There have been many events leading up to the War in Iraq, and contrary to popular belief, they didn't all occur during the Bush administration. In fact, the terrorist attacks that have contributed to our (that's right our, as in, the United States', us as Americans') decision to enter a war against terrorism in Iraq have gone back to the Carter administration in the late 1970's. The following is an incomplete listing of some of the lowlights.  Read More »

Don’t Blame the Beef: Protecting Yourself From E coli

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •

I recently read a blog by another ProU user titled “Meat is...manslaughter?” encouraging others to reduce their meat consumption based on the prominence of E coli. This blog, though very well-written, is an excellent example of alarmist material written by vegans and vegetarians to force others to make the same choice that they have. It leaves out some very important information about E coli, and when this information is included the original poster’s argument against the consumption of meat falls apart at the seams.  Read More »

Party Lines

In this day and age, we can’t afford to allow two distinctly separate political parties dictate our decisions for us. Life isn’t black and white; there is a grey area in between. A beautiful grey area, which we need to take the time to appreciate and ponder more often, because otherwise we are cheating ourselves out of understanding the true nature of reality.  Read More »

I am a Meat Eater; and I'm Proud of It: Dispelling the Myths of Meat

Some would argue that humans are the most evolved creatures on this planet, and therefore we have morally and physically bypassed the need to kill another animal for the sake of eating. I argue that even cauliflower screams when you steam it. It’s important that we are able to see both sides of the story, and be able to agree to disagree. I’d like to present to you today the side of the meat eater.  Read More »

The Civil War and Immigration

When in grade school, everybody learns that the American Civil War was about slavery. Then as students become older, the school systems introduce how the issues that brought on the Civil War were more complicated than that, and it was also about the rights of the states to govern themselves versus the right of the nation to be unified (States vs. Federal). The Civil War may be long over, but the issues that started it have never been resolved.  Read More »

Universal Healthcare is a Sham

According to the 2006 census, there are over 47 million people in the United States who do not carry medical insurance, which means approximately 15.8% of American residents do not have easy access to medical care [1]. Why do I tell you this? Because in the United States health care is a privilege, and not a right.

It is my belief that the institution of universal health care is a pipe dream that can never be effectively achieved, and should not even be sought. There are many, many flaws in our current system of private insurance companies, and these certainly need to be resolved. However, the purpose of my blog today is not to address the current health care system’s problems. Rather, I want to discuss why universal health care in the United States is ludicrous, and should be dropped like a hot potato.  Read More »
