I used to be fat. Really fat. And then I lost 90 lbs. And now people call me skinny. I've only been "skinny" for a year. I don't have the same friends that I did when I was fat. Well, I have one. I realized that all my "friends" weren't really my friends.
When I was younger, I used to let boys get away with stuff I shouldn't have because I just figured that was all part of growing up for them. I figured that it was just too early to expect them to have the maturity to step up and be a man.
I add to this list continually, and this list continually pushes me to redefine myself daily and strive to be the example I want to be to my child someday. I'm not anywhere close, that's why I'm preparing now.
I want to show my child:
-how to never judge
-how to withstand peer pressure and even push against it
-how to be a leader
If you call me a slut, then you are a coward. If you think I'm easy, then maybe you should poll a group of men about how they treat women and ask them why. If you call me a slut, then you don't know me very well, and shame on you for judging me.
The past two years, as sort of a joke I've created a list of all the various health and beauty issues that people, especially women, seem to be in extreme denial about. This year, I hadn't really thought about doing it, but after several requests I decided to begin compiling.
Everyday at school I grab a copy of the AJC for my perusing pleasure, and today, on the cover, was a story discussing the city of Kennesaw's ordinance that requires all people who are the head of their household to own a gun. The ordinance has been in place since 1983.
Sex is incredibly overrated. It's quite a phenomenom, actually. Don't get me wrong, sex is definitely 50% of any marriage/relationship, however, when the initial primal passion goes away, the one and only thing that keeps your sex life thriving is the level of intimacy that you share with your partner.
There is no dispute that there is a growing disparity between the rich and poor in this country. And yes, maybe the middle class should get some more tax breaks. But honestly, I'm a big believer in Fair Tax...BECAUSE IT'S FAIR!
