I'm a Dreamer too

"Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can?
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man.
Imagine all the people
Sharing for the world
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one."
-John Lennon

So how come everyone loves this song, but nobody wants to live it out?

Contemplating Ghandi

I just finished watching the move "Gandhi", which was an eye-opener to say the least. It is unbelievable how one ordinary person could change the world by just being himself and standing up for what he believed in wherever he went.

Taking Responsibility--Stop "Waiting on the World to Change"!

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

Something goes wrong.
We want to know, whodunnit?
Who is responsible?
Something goes right.
We clamour for credit.

So when will individuals take responsibility for other individuals?
When will communities that really aren't communities, neighborhoods of people who really aren't neighbors, and organizations that are nothing more than organized get a grip and start taking responsibility?

Me and the Trees

Tagged:  •    •

I walk along aside the trees and look over as I pass these mighty beams,
bear with winter.
When did we build bridges over and through these trees,
neglecting to amble under and among them?

We walk to proudly upon the earth,
Thinking we own the dead brown leaves
That break our fall in a pile
When we trip over twigs

Contemplations of Perspectives on Truth

Tagged:  •    •

For any given situation there are many perspectives.
My mom used to say (and still does), "there are three sides to a story: your side, their side, and the truth."
I still agree, except that now I see that no two people have exactly the same perspective on everything, so there are as many perspectives on a given object or situation as there are observers.

What does this mean?

I am waking...

I am waking up--too early.
Alarms inside and outside my head blare--too loud.
Time to get up, I tell myself.
Instead, I roll over and fade back into that place between waking and sleeping.
You'll be late, I chide, You won't have time to pack lunch, and you know you can't afford to eat out.
That does it.
