I am endlessly concerned with the fact that most people my age do not know, and do not care, about anything in current events other that Britney’s latest breakdown. However, what concerns me even more is that a lot of people have just given up trying to educate teens in politics.

A English-Born American Citizen's View on Patriotism
Being born and raised in England, and moving to American not even a year after 911, I have always been fascinated by the idea of American patriotism. While I don’t think that there is anything wrong with loving your country, it has always been a foreign concept (no pun intended) to me, how strongly American’s believe that they are the greatest country in the world.

A Slightly Radical Solution the the Gay Marriage Debate
This is my understanding of the gay marriage debate. Homosexuals feel that they should be entitled to have some form of civil union, because as American citizens the government has a responsibility to protect them in there relationship (for instance, so one partner can’t suddenly leave and take everything with no legal intervention).

Why Smoking around children should be illegal
This is an essay I wrote a year ago for english class. However it is an issue that I feel very strongly about. While the suggestion may sound a little radical, please listen to my reasoning and then make up your mind. College Tuition
I know that this is not exactly political, but since the majority of people are probably on here for the blogging for progress scholarship, I think it related. Right now, college tuition is something that I am very upset with. The college which I really want to go to is Drexel University, in Philadelphia.

The Church and the Primaries
Supposedly we live in a country where church and state are separated, however, weekly attending a Baptist Church, I have found that some churches just can’t help but get involved in politics. One week the church announced they had printed a voter’s guide with information about the various candidates. Its purpose, or so they stated, was not to tell anyone who to vote for, but simply to inform.
