'WAR' is Outdated

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

In a previous blog of mine, someone commented that it is hard to support our troops because even though they are supposedly out fighting for our freedoms they are obviously not doing a goog enough job or 9/11 would not have happened. He/she contended that instead of protecting ourselves we are actually opening up ourselves to more attacks by fighting for said freedoms because now those who we are fighting against us hate us more, especially since we have not actually declared war on anyone, so consequently we are fighting ... nothing, no one (or at least this is what I got out of the comment). I have two responses to this. First, should we just give into the terrorists demands then IE abandon the values which make us American and consequently make us hated? And secondly, 'WAR' in the way that is has previously been interpreted is a thing of the past.   Read More »

Poll! How do you think the world was created?

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

Below is a link for the poll. But first some background. A renowned evolutionist came to speak at my college yesterday, I did not go, but in the newspaper I read that his platform is basically that we, humans, fill all the gaps in science with God.  Read More »

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

The picture seen above is one of many featured in The Rocky Mountain News' pulitzer prize winning story Final Salute. The writer, Jim Sheeler leaves no room for readers to doubt the passion behind the story as he paints a picture of the life of Maj. Steve Beck, a Casualty Assistance Officer in the United States Marines. The picture seen above, is of a pregnant Mrs.  Read More »

Progressive categories and and principles were created for a reason

All right, as always, I get to be the bad guy. But since I'm not actually eligible for the contest, I guess I dont feel as bad being the one to say this. Here is the thing. There are a lot of posts that I have seen on here that are well-written by bloggers who have quickly and easily won my respect. BUT no matter how eloquently put some of these posts are, they in no way fall into Progressive U topics.  Read More »

PROGRESSIVE does not equal DEMOCRAT

It has come to my attention that there seems to be a strong dislike for Republicans on this site. Part of this sentiment seems to come from the site's name, 'Progressive U.' Over time, I have noticed that a lot of users seem to interpret the sites name as the creators way of saying 'we're democrats and we are proud of it.' Also that if one is a Republican that instead of voicing their support for the Republican party, they ought to just go with the 'democratic flow' because its easier to go with the flow than be picked.  Read More »

Why todays media is wrong and what we can do to change it

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •
After reading a fellow bloggers post, it came to my attention that we as a media, by we I mean everyone involved in any type of media, have a bad habit of focusing on the negatives in society. By this I mean, when a killer is caught, we dont celebrate the fact that there is one less killer roaming the country, we freak out and say, "Why didnt someone do something sooner?" This is the wrong attitude.

While its human nature to blame and speculate, instead of focusing on the negatives we need to being to focus more on the postives.  Read More »

Why Progressive U is important

After taking a long summer off from Progressive U, I am back, and more pumped than ever to be here. I've missed everyone, yes everyone, in the Progressive U community. I wish I had been able to be more active during the summer, but personal circumstances stopped me from having frequent access to a computer. Now however, I am a freshman in college, and not only do I have my own computer, I have learned several lessons as well. One of them is Why Progressive U is so important to stay involved in and up to date on.

'Who says you can't go home' could be the worst song EVER to reach number one

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

We have all heard this song at least once. Maybe you love it, maybe you don't. Personally I dont understand how it has managed to shoot to number one on the billboard charts on both the pop and country billboards. In fact, I am a bit confused that it has even topped one billboard, not to mention two. The song has received widespread recognition for being one of few tunes to top both charts. But what is so great about it, honestly? Nothing. It sounds like a folk song that my grandmother would listen to and I would suffer through out of respect for the elderly.  Read More »
