A user made a comment in the forum regarding the front page and how often new blogs are posted and how they are chosen. I responded to this comment in the forum, but I think this it is important that everyone in the contest be aware of how the front page works. Read More »

Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
As everyone knows it is time begin a new Blogging for Progress Scholarship Competition. I am very excited to see how many new users we have gained in the past couple of weeks. I am equally happy to see that some of our prominant bloggers, who did not win the contest last semester, but came close, have also returned. However, there are some house-keeping issues that follow a new competition. Read More »

I am disappointed
To the users who seem to think that name calling and attacking fellow users is okay: I am very disappointed in you. I have shut off comments to the blogs in which you exhibited this immature behavior and am waiting to see if further action will be taken. On this site we blog about the negatvie effects of bullying, but then somehow we think that the users on this site we attack are exempt from the statistics. Read More »

The End is Near
Just a short reminder to bloggers that there is one week remaining in the "Blogging for Progress Challenge." After next Monday, December 4, noon, Pacific Standard Time, no comments, blogs, or reads will count towards point totals. Also, this week is a very crucial time for collectiing points. I can say from personal experience that you can be one of the top bloggers the entire contest, and for me that was four, long months, but fall out of the running in the last week of competition simply because you did not log in all week due to a busy schedule, etc . . . Finals are approaching, as well as the holiday break, and its a very busy time of year- which is understandable; but its important to remember that the users who put the most time and effort into the site are going to be the users that win. But even though the contest will be over, that does not mean bloggers should stop using the site. In between contests is a great time to get blogging practice in and make/keep friends who not only have the potential to help you in the next contest, but in the working world as well. Read More »

Ted Haggard, Mark Foley analysis
Republicans rejoiced over John Kerry's timely word vomit likening the members of the US military to uneducated losers. However their excitement was short lived. Today Rev. Ted Haggard resigned after a Colorado male prostitute claimed that Haggard had been paying him for sex and snorting cocaine for the past three years. Haggard was president of the National Association of Evangelicals and the leading lobbist in Colorado against gay marriage. Democrats could not have asked for better "post-October surprise" -unless they finally gave made a pact with the devil- which though tempting, is highly unlikely.
Harggard states that the claims are UNTRUE! "I've never had an affair with anybody. Read More »

Political Candidates Bashing Their Oppononts Is Poor Campaigning
I know I am not the only person who has noticed this; its not uncommon. Almost every campaign advertisement I have seen lately on televsion focuses a political candidate bashing his or her opponent. Hardly ever does the campaign say please vote for me because I am going do all these good things. Usually, the ad goes something like this, "Bob Henry vote 5 billion times last year against increased funding for education. Read More »
