Well, the holiday season is upon us once more. It's hectic trying to get everything done; all the presents bought and wrapped, Holiday funtime, baking cookies, Christmas caroling, and all the family get together's you have to somehow make it through. It drives me crazy!!!
It's hard to find the silver lining when the storm rages on
War splits nations and family, no one knows what needs to be done
The wickedness of humanity seems to dominate our lives
We kill each other over religion, land, $20 and a pair of shoes
How can love survive?
I used to believe that there was no silver lining to the storm
That quote comes from the infamous Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight. He said that in an interview with Connie Chung and later tried to retract the comment by saying that people were taking his words out of context. Most people would ask what other context you could possibly take it in.
“Good-bye, baby, I love you,” I say to my little girl as she runs out the door. I see her run up to him, excitement in her eyes as she asks him questions about what’s going on at his house.
My oldest grabs her things and kisses my cheek and runs to the Explorer.
Just recently I went to a church revival. I didn't want to go, but a friend of mine thinks my sould needs to be saved. Saved? From what? Am I that spiritually dead that I need something to fill a 'void' in my wretching soul. I don't think so, but they do. I humored them.
I wrote this poem as if I were talking to my children. I hope someday they understand fully what I'm trying to tell them.
I read something disturbing today. The U.S. senate proposed to split Iraq into territories according to religious and ethnic divisions. The Kurds, who pretty much run a virtually independent government within Iraq anyways, would receive the northern territories that they already govern. The Shiites and the Kurds would receive oil-rich territories.
