enjoying others' pain?

It seems like more and more people are watching shows for negative reasons.  I didn't realize this until my teacher brought up the subject a few days ago.  Think about all the shows you may watch, specifically reality TV.  How many times have you tuned in to see who gets kicked off, or what goes wrong?

Many people may still watch shows for the enjoyment, but it seems like more are watching to see the pain of others.  Why can't we simply watch a show to see if it has a good ending? Or why not watch to see who stays on?

No Child Left Behind= No Child Gets Ahead

You would think the kids in AP classes would be able to slide by the standardized testing caused by the No Child Left Behind Act. Obviously, if we are in an almost college level course, we know the basics of english and depending, the basics of math.  But no, we still have to take the stupid tests, that are SOOO much easier than the AP exam.  Nobody really tries, and even kids that have the possibility of doing really well slack off because it doesn't really matter.  Teachers have to dumb down the classes and officials have to dumb down the tests so that the majority are able to pass.  More smart kids are being drug down to the lower kids levels.  Read More »

Faces reveal it all?

I'm listening to the radio and they are talking about a new study. According to the study, women are able to tell if a guy would be a good father. Now this is just the beginning of the craziness.  The study also suggests that women can tell the guy's testosterone levels and can tell if they would make a good "fling".

I don't know about any other females out there, but if I see some random guy's face, I can't tell that much about them. It takes more than their faces.

Should there be cures?

While I dont believe that anyone should suffer through incurable diseases, I sometimes don't feel the need to cure them.  I am not one of those people that do not care because I have not personally experienced deah or suffering from these diseases.

Have you noticed how populated the world is becoming? A lot has to do with the advances in science and medicine.  Eventually we will be overrun with humans.  The world needs some sort of way of narrowing down the stress of all the life.   Read More »

Being Deaf and thinking.

*I am going to start by saying that I am not at all trying to be politically incorrect.*

When I was in elementary school, I had a best friend that was deaf.  Later on I became fascinated with sign language and learning about deafs and mutes.  The one thing I have never found out is how a deaf person thinks.

This is very confusing to explain.  I know that obviously they think, and they can think as well as any other human being.  The difference is the way they think. I know that when I am thinking about something, I think in words. I can basically hear the words in my head.  If a deaf person has never heard or understoon the sound of words, what exactly do they think in?  Read More »

So i've always wodered how those who are from spain escaped the "caucasian" category. I mean, there is a "hispanic" category, which is to include any person from a spanish speaking country. Well, As far as i know, spain is a part of Europe, which makes them caucasian.. doesnt it?

Cheerleading Today

Did you know that at one time, when cheerleading first started, it was an all-male activity? Now, cheerleaders are stereotyped as the popular blondes with short skirts and dating a football player.  This stereotype may be true somewhere, but I personally have never witnessed it. Cheerleading takes strength, flexibility, teamwork, and courage

Strength: Whether used for lifting/throwing a person almost the same size as you into the air, or for jumping high, or tumbling, it is important.  Read More »

Cheerleading Today

I don't want to be just like every other cheerleader who says "it is so a sport", but it's true. When most people think of cheerleading, they picture the stereotypical blonde, with her short skirt and arms around the quarterback.  Little do most people know, cheerleading was originally an all-male activity. It wasn't until around the 1940's that it became mostly female.  Read More »
