Ronald Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6, 1911 to John and Nelle Reagan. He was the youngest of four children. Because they were poor, Reagan’s family constantly moved, searching for a better life. Finally, when Reagan was nine, his father was offered a job in Dixon, Illinois, where his family settled permanently.
On January 17, 1961, President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned America about the dangers of the military industrial complex. Forty six years later, what Eisenhower described as “the potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power” is very much alive. The idea that something so sinister and corrupt has been allowed to infiltrate the American way of life is appalling.
The United States has long seen itself as “the world’s watchdog.” Often we get involved in other country’s foreign affairs, usually in the name of democracy and helping those in need.
