Today I participated in the Day of Silence, as many people have done today. I want to congratulate everyone who successfully made it through the day without speaking. I hope that you participated because you wanted to make a point and not for a silly reason.

So, the other day I was sitting in the office of my school nurse. I had just been diagnosed with 'pink eye' and was told that I was to go home. Apparently it's super-contagious. As I was sitting in the chair waiting for my ride to come, I began to think about how much easier it was to see when one does not have the Pink Eye. I began to appreciate things a little more. Jackie Chan is a very inspirational man. He has the traditional ‘started out poor but worked to make his own fortune’ story. But he also has much more. He has comedy, personality, and most importantly: he knows who he is. In his autobiography entitled "I am Jackie Chan," he tells the story of how he became who he is today.
