Now, I must admit, I know that reading was never really on the Top Ten List of Things Kids Love To Do. But I never really understood why. I'm just gonna say it- I'm a book worm. I currently own more than 400 books and I've read hundreds more. But this obsession is deeply rooted in the fiber of my being (its not just a simple passtime). My mother read books to me from the time I was an infant.

Well, summer's almost over, and most kids are dragging their feet in anticipation of the new year. Or are they?


Most of my friends that I've talked to recently have admitted, if grudgingly, that they are actually looking forward to the first day of school. I must say, I'm ECSTATIC that school is just around the corner. And I think I know the source of this phenomenon- BOREDOM.

A while ago (maybe a couple of years), I decided I want to work at Pixar. I love their movies (Finding Nemo REALLY sealed the deal) and the general energy of the entire company (at least, what I've seen in the behind-the-scenes features) and the level of innovation displayed by their continuous bellwether status in the industry, etc.

So, I'm writing an essay for a scholarship provided by blacknews.com, and the topic of the essay is whether or not people should be able to use the N-word in everyday speech. Well, it's made me think a lot about my race, my peers, and society in general. So I'll kinda paraphrase what I'm thinking about writing for the essay...
