Academics vs. Athletics

Tagged:  •    •    •

At some point in life, primarily in high school, the "academics" are separated from the "jocks". These are the two extremes since there are obviously those individuals who fall in between those two categories. However, it seems like the jocks get more recognition than the academics. The reasoning behind that is one that still puzzles me to this day, but I think that I have an idea why.

The Cell Phone Craze

Tagged:  •    •    •

Cell phones are very popular these days and are becoming even more so with the updated features.  Honestly, who needs to listen to music on a phone?  The fact that so much technology is being added to a phone makes no sense to me.  Do people honestly need to take pictures by phone and then send them to their friends?  I'm guilty of texting and indulging in a new ring tone every once in awhile, but enough is enough.  Some people seem to make their phones their lives.  Personally, I'm just glad to have one that works.  Cell phones are very practical and evev necessary in some situations, but they just seem to get abused.  Some people carry on conversations with others even while they are driving a vehicle.  Unless it's an emergency, the conversation can wait for a few

The Best Years?

Tagged:

People often say that the time spent in high school are some of the "best years of your life".  I can honestly say that I do not believe that to be true.  It's a bit awkward trying to find out who you are.  Some people seem to develop just like that and can find a significant other faster than you can snap your fingers.  Others try to find someone who they can pursue a romanti

Cocoa Can Have Positive Effects On The Body

Chocolate is an extremely common indulgence, but it can be used for a pratical cause.  It has been found that the comfort food can help decrease blood pressure.  Multiple studies have been done at the University Hospital of Cologne, Gernany, on both cocoa rich foods and tea, and those studies have proved that dark chocolate has actually helped lower the systolic and diastolic blood pressures

It All Starts At Home

There are many negative things that are corrupting the youth.  Many young kids would rather play the newest violent videogame or watch television instead of playing outside and getting some exercise.  The obesity rates have become so much of a problem that there are some videogames, such as Dance Dance Revolution, to decrease those rates.  I am glad to see that our society is moving in a mor

The Flaws Of High School

Tagged:

As a 16 year old student, I can honestly say that I don't have much of a say about what goes on in my high school.  Sure, I'm on student council, but it's just a puppet regime.  They elect a bunch of students to represent the school, but nothing truly gets done.
