Happy Holidays

As the holidays approach, it is becoming a much more central issue to say, "Merry Christmas", or "Happy Thanksgiving". I think this is such a twisted mindset in our society. Not only is that the name of the holiday, but we are begininng to take all the meaning out of every holiday. I think about it with this paralell. Today is Vetrans Day, a day to celebrate those who fought in the war for us. If on this day we were not allowed to talk to any of those vetrens, it would destroy the entire purpose of the holiday. Thus my point exactly. Or take the Fourth of July, Independence Day, a day on which our country founded it's freedom. If on this day we could not look at a single American Flag, what would this holiday become about. Thus I believe is an equal paralell to our coutry's decissions upon all the Holidays. If we don't say "Merry Christmas," we might as well say Happy Jesus's Birth, because realisticaly we are denying the very essence of that day, in an attempt to not offend people. And to that end, today I heard a man speaking about this very issue. He was a muslim for 18 years, and he said never once in his life has this offended him. Thus what are we doing. We are destroying everything that we have worked to achieve, slowly but surely. What will come next? Happy Life, because we can't talk specifically about the New Year. That's how rediculous this is becoming.......where will it go? Not only is this a petty argument, it is down right ridiculous! I mean what is it all about anyway?

Atheists

Recently I have come across alot of people who think that athiesm is the hardest belief ever. A majority of people believe that they were created by something, for something, and in something. I think personally that atheism would be the hardest belief in the world, because to follow this religion you must first deny all hope. Think about it, if you were not created for something, through something, or in something, your world would have no purpose. Without purpose you can still act but only for a short time. What are you acting for or on? You have no moral standard and no personal beliefs to back things upon, so basically the outlook on life becomes entirely apathetic. Apathy is one of the worst diseases that our society faces, there is nothing more damaging. If you become apathetic to a situation you no longer act, or inessence you no longer have a purpose. How depressing our world can become, if we no longer have nothing to live for? Hope is something that defines a majority of people if we were honest with ourselves, but deneying that hope, denys our insentive to live. Why would we then have this belief?

Abortion

I know so many people have an option on this and it is as the forfront of our society, so lets try and work together to figure out the key issues......

Abortion could be considered one of the biggest political issues in the world. It is one of the few issues that address almost every country. These issues are at the forefront of most political battles. Nearly every candidate running for office, at one point or another addresses this issue.

Scholarships

Tagged:  •

So, I figured that since I am blogging for a scholarship I might as well talk about the politics behind that. Being a Senoir in highschool it feels like the only thing that I have done is fill out paperwork, applications, and scholarships. After a while this can become quite tideous....the thing is that scholarships are no longer about a student who does well, they are about being "special". Now I am not racist at all, but I believe that students who are smart and intellegent can no longer just recieve scholarships. Even if there extra-cirricular activies are full and they have tons of awards, according to our society they are no longer special enough. The work that a student has to go through just to get enough money for college could be a full-time job just in itself, not to mention that I have a job, go to school, and have other responsibilities. There has never been a day and age quiet like this when we are so focused on achieving acedimics. I believe that in this quest, we loose the real purpose in life, whatever yours may be. I know for me it is to Love God and to Love Others, and to this purpose I want to dedicate my life. I believe that if we didn't concentrate so much on the little things, other things would be seen as far more important.
