To Work Or Not To Work? That Is a Woman's Question
To help my friend with her sociology project, I went with her to a popularized toys store: KB Toys. Immediately, as I walk into the store, I see the great divide between boys and girls: blue and pink. I looked on the “girl’s side” first and the only types of toys I saw were: dolls, tea sets, make-up, clothes, kitchen sets, etc. There were no goal oriented dolls and I was astonished to see no dolls that had professions, besides a Barbie, who is not relatable to most girls in the 5 to 13 age group in which Barbie is marketed to.

Exploring Lupe Fiasco's "American Terrorist"...A Linkage to American Perspectives on Race
So, I'm sure that everyone is probably already tired of me posting blogs that explore race, but its always been of myself to want to explore and discuss issues that are considered taboo to talk about. This is a piece in which I take the lyrics of Lupe Fiasco's "American Terrorist" and discuss his references and how they apply to American perspectives on the highly controversial topic of race. I hope people enjoy it; and like always I hope it is thought provoking...Don't be afraid to leave comments, its great to discuss such topics even though we may disagree! =]

Reinforcing Traditional Roles and the Inferiority of “Others”

Global Warming and Steps to Help Fight It
Global Warming is something that currently affects our world and is a topic that is constantly the head of discussion. But do people really know what Global Warming is all about and if so, do they know how to prevent it from becoming worse.
Global Warming refers to the increase of the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere; refering to both air and oceans. Global Warming is said to be linked to or caused by human activity that helps to increase the levels of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. Deforestation and transportation fuel [which help to count for a third of the greenhouse pollution in the U.S. alone] are the main causes of such emissions of greenhouse gases.

FOX News Attacks the Black Community...
I found this clip interesting...it makes the assertion that FOX News has attacked Black America...some portions of the clip are out of context, but the rest do make for some quite shocking evidence.
Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY04gIruZ4E
I have never been a fan of FOX News, but in their defense some of the clips, like I afore mentioned, were out of context. But, the very first portion of the clip was very damaging...

The Big Fuss About Barack Obama
I wrote this piece about two months ago for a newsletter at my school entitled: The Voice. I hope all enjoy it! =]
