So here is my situation:
-Mother is disabled, receives small monthly checks
-Father laid off at Thanksgiving, currently unemployed
-Me working part time and going to school part time
-Younger sister full time student
-Parents filed bankruptcy due to medical bills
-House ready to be foreclosed
-Car ready to be repossessed
-No heat during winter
So about a week or so ago I found out I had been diagnosed with PCOS, aka Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Turns out I had been diagnosed a few years ago in my medical records, but the doctors failed to actually TELL me (we'll leave that one for a later blog).
I remember it like it was yesterday...
A month or so ago in Massachusetts, two firefighters were killed in a terrible restaurant kitchen blaze. It was all over the news, and thousands came to mourn their deaths. A billboard was even put up on the main expressway with their pictures and names. Two weeks later....we find out one was intoxicated and one had traces of cocaine in his system. What happens now?
I think a lot of people here on ProgressiveU search for topics they feel strongly about or can relate to, or even something that vaguely interests them. So, I naturally searched for the topic of self-injury. A lot of the blogs I read were very disheartening, uninformed, or quoted from a book.
I have always been one against euthanasia in almost all forms. Especially with animals. When my dog Button began losing use of her hind legs, I was told she may have to be put down. I immediately put up my defense and yelled and got so angry I cried. Putting animals to sleep is against a lot of things I stand for, and I just wouldn't do it. Now, I'm having mixed feelings...
