Rudy: The Republican's Best Choice

Let's face it: the republican party has only one true chance to win the white house during this presidential election. The only way they'll keep the oval office is to nominate Rudy.

He may not be the most experienced, he may not be the most conservative, but the bottom line is that the country is not happy with Bush and will most likely shy away from a candidate who has really right wing beliefs. Insert Rudy.

Why Rudy will win if he wins the nomination:

I've competed in pageants since I was six years old. Ever since I began competing, I've dealt with smirks and comments about how crazy I am for choosing to put myself out there to be judged based mainly on how I look. I've had friends tell me that competing is degrading because obviously the entire point of the pageant system is to objectify women.

As the end of first semester of senior year approached, only one thing was on my mind. While other seniors were looking forward to January 25th because it meant senior slump could officially begin, I was preparing for something so much more important. January 25th was a Thursday.

Why I'm not ready for a woman president

I’m sure some of you are disappointed, because this isn’t about the Iraq war and it’s not about anything that you can blast with your statistics because let’s face it, who IS ready for a woman president?

Illegal Immigration- Why HR4437 STINKS.

On May 1 thousands across the country protested HR4437 by refraining from contributing to the economy through refusing to work and shop. Closer to home, thousands marched on the National Mall hoping that congress would hear their plea and amend the bill, arguably the harshest legislation directed towards illegal immigration.
That same day, my dad, who owns the Loudoun branch of The Maids Home Services, rescheduled all of his cleans for later in the week and used the day to do administrative work with his manager while many of his employees marched.

constitution- dead or alive?

As confirmation hearings are underway for supreme court associate justice nominee Samuel Alito, perhaps it is time to consider the age old question as to the state of the U.S. Constitution. The way a justice rules on a case set before the court depends on whether or not that justice believes that the Constitution is a living document. Ask Antonin Scalia and he would tell you that the Constitution is dead as a doornail, that it is only to be interpreted strictly, exactly how the founders would have wanted it to be. Others say it is living, that it should mold and change with the times.

Let's quit segregating ourselves based on political parties

The two party system in this country really ticks me off.. Okay- so not actually the system itself, but rather the way it encourages people to vote along party lines, the way it makes people segregate themselves into two groups- republicans and democrats, the way it discourages staying informed on the issues.

There was someone who responded to a comment I made on another blog a while back saying something along the lines of "Democrats are smart and republicans are not." How ignorant can you be? That's like someone saying "Christians are smart and non-Christians are not." How can you make such a general statement about such a large group of people?

I hate it when people say that Bush lied...

A while ago my English teacher wrote in to our school newspaper after an editorial about Bush lying was published. I think his response expresses my point of view on the matter best...

"The absence of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) is not proof that President Bush lied because lying requires foreknowledge; to prove the President lied about the WMD, one must first prove that he knew beforehand that the WMD did not exist. Only with this information can the President be guilty of deceiving the American people. No evidence has been presented to show the President knew Iraq did not possess any WMD before the War.
