For years conservatives have been slandering children's entertainment characters who didn't quite fit their image of the ideal male authority figure.

First, Barney the dinosaur was suspect. For starters he was purple, and he talked an awful lot about loving and caring. He must be gay, they said. Then Twinkie Winkie, one of the Teletubbies, set a bad example because he portrayed a male character who carried a purse.  Read More »

I now understand how conservatives have taken over America. A recent article in the Wall Street Journal opinion pages gives some clues.

Here's the premise of the article: conservative students have a tough time when they get to college. First, they probably didn't get into the college they wanted to, because some minority or econonomically disadvantaged kid stole their spot.
