This blog is just a collection of thoughts I've been having. It's not as polished as most of my blogs, but it's pretty much straight out of my head. Enjoy.
1) Twilight has become some sort of phenomenon, whether we are ready to accept it or not. I am not the hugest fan of the series, but I can understand why people are so obsessed over it. What I can't accept is the media attention surrounding it. Let the fans enjoy the series without having a Twilight related news story every five seconds. It kind of really gets annoying after the hundredth in the matter of four hours.
2) I'm loving the fact people are starting to embrace their inner "geek". It seems since "The Big Bang Theory" became a mega-hit this year and the cult following of "Chuck", people are finally letting loose and showing the world their real identities. Now only if we could let loose of Sarah Palin and Jon & Kate.
3) Please support your local comedy scene. For every Ron White, Jeff Dunham, and Jeff Foxworthy there are over 15 local comedians who are hilarious that need your support. Watching Comedy Central and HBO aren't enough. The local comedy scene is dying and comedy clubs are starting to shut down due to lack of income. I know we are in a struggling economy, but comedy is relatively cheap. Laughter is a great medicine and there are some hilarious unknown talents out in your own community. Please check it out and give it a try.
4) All 3 seasons of "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" are going to be released in hi-def on ABC Family starting January of 2010. I'm stoked. But since Saban doesn't own the rights anymore, they are talking about music changes and changes in the morphing sequence and what not. I sure hope that doesn't change...
5) I will be the first to admit I love Taylor Swift. She's gorgeous, writes amazing songs, and is a sight to behold. But she is everywhere...and I'm starting to get sick of her. I don't know if the rest of you are, but I don't need to see Taylor Swift on the Today Show, Good Morning America, Ellen, and The Tonight Show all in the same day.
6) Remember that old thing, MySpace? Remember the classic MySpace picture? Well now that Facebook is here (which I don't like but use), I've coined a new phrase: "That's a MyHooker". Does it really make sense? No. But will I use it until it gets real old real fast? Yes.

About number 3...
I don't go to comedy clubs n' such (there aren't any around here) but at my campus we usually have a comedian here at our coffeehouse on Tuesdays. My friends and I would always go, till this semester when I had a class scheduled then. I also often check out the musicians on Wednesdays. I think it's great to see new talent that you don't have to spend a fortune to see (for us it's free) and generally have a good time experiencing that new talent.
1) I agree about Twilight. I considered only the first book as a piece of goo work. The rest three, in my opinion, are mundane. The fact that New Moon movie is even more successful compare to Batman:The Black Knight can be attributed to the hype created by media.
5) Taylor Swift is the next big thing:). I too think her work is AWESOME!
6) Remember the hoo-ha created during Myspace?

It always seems impossible until it is done-Nelson Mandela.
And the fact that Taylor Lautner has a great body. I know more than a few girls who are all about Team Jacob just because Taylor is so much better looking than Robert Pattinson.

Taylor Lautner is a lot better looking than Robert Pattinson. In the books however, I liked Jacob more than Edward because Jacob seemed more realistic to me than the "too perfect" Edward Cullen. To me, being too perfect gets old pretty quick and being imperfect like Jacob Black, can be pretty fun in a spontaneous way. I think it's a little silly to be obsessed over characters based on an actors look. That's just my opinion though.

I liked the books because they were a mindless read. Which was really nice after trying to read, say, Agnes Grey or Wuthering Heights. The books themselves suck... Meyer can't write, and she uses characters like Bella, who's a horrible Mary Sue, and Edward, who is either clueless or perfect. It just doesn't make for a good series. And frankly, the series ended horribly. A happily ever after is nice, but only when it's realistically reached. She spent the whole book building up some hype about the Volturi, and then cleaned it all up and shipped them off in a matter of pages, without anything really happening.
