Been there - Done that!

In reference to MJCONNOR's blog March 16th 2008 on "Reverse Racism": Since I obviously cannot post a reply to that thread, figured I'd dump it here.

If you are here, reading this, and you find yourself "offended" by what you read, you are reminded that you came looking "uninvited". Perhaps your sensitivity to the topic is a deeply ingrained subconscious link to your Freudian inclination toward psychoanalyzing anything that might explain your desperate struggle to justify the anger that comes from being told repeatedly by your own parents and Grand Parents how my Grandfather owned your Grandfather? ...just a thought ...but, if it really bothers you that much, please know that my ancestors were not slave owners. They were Soldiers. ALL OF THEM. So, while you are biting the blood out of your lip, and smoke is rolling out of your ears, could you please explain to me how it is that you think me, my Sons, or anyone in my past, present, or future family should be held responsible for a social class that was invented in Africa? Slavery was not invented by white people, especially not American white people. From what I have read, around 60% of the slaves brought to this country were "purchased" by slave traders and tribe leaders, or captured from tribes who had already enslaved them. 12% migrated here on their own to escape slavery and oppression only to be enslaved upon arrival under a higher standard of servitude, and about 4% were educated legal immigrants from other nations.

I wrote a college research paper on this back in 1988 for "genetics" of all things lol.
I got an A grade for a "Reverse Discrimination" research paper for a Jew professor named "Goldstein" while being the only other "Honky" sitting in a class with 40 Blacks. (Needless to say it took balls, but then, if you knew me, you'd know, that's never been my weakness -roflmao and I loved watching Goldstein grow more pale by the minute !)...and when I was finished with the presentation, it was quite "SILENT" in the room. Beautiful thing about research papers, they force you to quote sources. My sources were bulletproof. Don't you wish your argument for 200 years of prejudicial favor was?

..and in response to mjconnor's thread on the subject:
How far will it go you ask? All the way to the Whitehouse baby...all the way to the Whitehouse!

..well done Connor. When the NAACP with their messiah "BO" (and his three wise guys Jessie, Al, and Louie) comes calling, demanding reparations for the sins of your Great Great Great Grandfather's, you tell them ABRAHAM L. CHRIST paid for it with his blood and "You are welcome". My Sons owe no man and as long as I live and breathe, they shall learn and be reminded often that there are those who still think they do. Ironic how that works isn't it?

Wow! I have much to learn. I also hear this from my parents, mostly my mom, but she didn't do the research for the facts like you did now I can send her to this blog to prove her right! What is next? This president "BO" and his followers can't have a normal friendly discussion on any matter subject (health care, war, taxes, etc.)without reminding us what color his skin is. Don't know why that is an issue at all any more these days. Just let it go and more on please.
thanks for the enlightenment

Actually, slavery was common among pretty much every group in the world and dates as far back as Sumer.

Even the Vikings, who are about as "white" as you can get had slaves. Ironically, even the Spartans (who are well known for fighting for their own freedom from the Persian Empire) had slaves. The British Isles, the Roman Empire, and the Persian Empire all had large slave populations. Native Americans and South American tribes were also known for their own slave trading. There are even cases of white Christians being slaves to Muslim tribes in slightly more recent times.

The American settlers were familiar with slavery long before they started using Africans as slaves. Whether they were familiar with it from Europe or learned it from the Natives, Africans were not their first choice in slaves. They had tried to enslave members of the surrounding Native American tribes, but the Natives knew the land too well and would often escape. It was also legal to have indentured servants, which may have included fellow white people. Slavery in colonial and early America was primarily driven by economics.

Just our of curiosity...for whom did the soldiers in your family fight? What countries and at what times did the Soldiers in your family serve?
