Palin vs Biden

On October 2, 2008, there was a vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. Both Governor Palin and Senator Biden discussed foreign and domestic policies. Some of the issues focused on terrorism, war in Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, taxing, education, energy, health care and the economic crisis. On the debate, they didn’t talk about what they are going to do as vice president. They talked about whether Senator Obama’s policy or McCain’s can make the country better. They avoided making any promises before the economic crisis is over.
When I was watching the vice presidential debate, I realize that both of the candidates didn’t really answer the questions. They both only talked about who is the best candidate to run as president, Obama or McCain. When Palin was doing her speech, she smiles too much and I think that was a bad sign. That was a bad sign because it would probably make others feel that she is not a sincere or reliable person to be vice president. She was articulate and confident while doing her speech, but didn’t seem to be as intelligent as Biden. Unlike Palin, Biden was confident, sincere, intelligent and articulate person. He also has a lot of experience and knows what’s best for the country.
After I watched the debate, I thought Biden was more convincing than Palin. I think Biden was more convincing because he really knows what he is doing. He has more experience than Palin and he knows what’s best for the country. Most of things he spoke of, he has facts to back him up and Palin don’t. For example, Palin said that Obama voted to increase the taxes but Biden has proof that he wants to give a tax break to the middle class. He was right, for the past eight years our economic policy has worsened. I think he was right and Palin was wrong on how to deal with the economic crisis. Biden said we should focus more on the middle class if we want to fix the economy.
Overall I agree with him that we should focus on the middle class to help the economy increase. As more jobs are created for the people, the economy will grow stronger Biden was also supporting Obama’s policy instead of McCain‘s. On the other side Palin supported McCain’s policy. She said that McCain is putting the country first, but I don’t think he is. McCain didn’t know what he is doing to make the country better. For example, during the war in Iraq, he didn’t sit down and ask our allies in Spain to assist in Afghanistan. He was putting our country at risk by not asking our allies for help. Biden made the right decision by supporting Obama instead of McCain. Obama really knows what he is doing to make the country better. He also put the people’s benefit above everything, such as health care, education, lowering taxes and creating jobs for the poor. McCain on the other hand supports deregulation, war in Iraq and a $5000 tax credit for health insurance.
