Robbing the Cradle or Rightful Love? Adults Who Marry Teenagers and Teenagers Marrying Prematurely.

I was watching a television show entitled, The Secret Life of Women. The episode in which I was watching was about young girls who either married young and/or married someone older. Does anyone think that marrying young should be against the law? If so, explain. Also, are the individuals (adults) who marry these adolescents, pedophiles or are they justified in their actions due to love? I would like to get some feedback from this if possible; I was shocked, upon viewing the show, to discover that so many US children were either doing this by their own will or were being forced into these types of situations.
My Perspective on Marrying Young: First, I don’t think that most adolescents nowadays are ready to handle that type of responsibility; for that reason, I think that there should be laws set in place against it. On the other hand, if the adolescents are seemingly mature enough (and not to young, above sixteen or seventeen) and have their parents consent then legally nothing should be done to oppose the situation, unless abuse of some kind is taking place. In this day and age, people are living longer and being educated more, therefore the age of marrying is being extended well into middle age.
Some teenagers develop a lot quicker than others. Whether or not I agree or disagree with older individuals marrying adolescents is a hard thing to nail down. Every individual’s situation is unique and different. Do I agree that a fifty year old wanting to marry a sixteen year is somewhat disturbing, yes. Do I agree that a seventeen year old wanting to marry a twenty year old is completely wrong, no.
You may agree or disagree, but we are going to have to agree to disagree on this particular issue because I don’t think that anyone has the right or wrong answer completely.
