Have you ever walk past a new stand on the street and picked up a news paper? Or have you every turned on the TV and turned to the news to see what was going on in the country you live in? Well, people today and in particular young people, our teenager ranging fro 13 to18, and even our vibrant 20 year old neglect to inform their selves of the true media. We as young people of society think that the media is E! TV, Extra, Peoples Magazine, Seventeen Magazine, but you have to see past those celebrities and find the true media like CNN, your local news, etc. Understanding and knowing what is going on in you hometown, state, or country is crucially important because if we are blinded by ignorance we will be ignorant. We as the youth of society are a great importance to the world. We are the future! The survival of the world depends on us. THE YOUTH. We must not be over taken with ignorance anymore; we must inform and involve ourselves in the world to better our future for ourselves and other. The survival of our world depends on it; the survival of us depends on it. So next time you switch on you television and decide to watch TMZ or flip over to a reality show. Consider watching several minutes of the news or CNN to inform yourselves of the world you live in. Remember only you can force ignorance on yourselves not anyone else.
The Media

I think you're getting a little confused by media and news.
What you're talking about (newspapers, CNN) are news. And media. But media is broader.
The Media refers to television, the printed word, Internet, and Radio. This also includes things like TMZ and Seventeen Magazine.
I get your point though. Teenagers aren't interested in current events or what is going on in their world. I know some teachers, a few of mine included, would give students extra credit if they brought in news articles about current events, but that didn' always work because some students blindly clipped any story and handed it in for credit.
