Picking A College: My Goal for the Near Future

I'm approaching my senior year in high school and it is almost time to fill out that common app and send it off with a kiss.
I am grateful for the opportunity to further my education. I know that in previous generations that was a rarity and a privilege. The amount of choices that I have is so overwhelming. There are way too many doors wide open that I don't know which one to walk through.

Do I want to stay in state or go out of state? Rural, urban or suburban? Public or private? Am I looking to satisfy myself or my mother?

At least I know that I am looking for a school that offers creative writing, advertising and communications. I love to write and I have a knack for advertising so these are the majors that are attractive to me.

How did you pick your school?

I wish that America had free college educational opportunities the way that Europe does (just minus the taxes) It's an out of left field idea, but maybe I'll move to Europe just to go to college for free and then move back to America or something. I wonder if the cost of airfare will make it not worth my while. It is something that I have to research more. Whaddaya think?

I'm going to search for more scholarship opportunities now. Words of encouragement are more than welcome.

College in Europe isn't free if you're American.

Well that would only make sense. I'm saying if I become a citizen and all.

Are you planning on marrying a foreigner? And the US is pretty strict about dual citizenship... you'd have to make a pretty convincing argument to become a citizen of another country. The education system in Europe is also very different from the US... not everyone has the opportunity to go to college, and you go to be trained. For instance, in the US, you spend 4 years in college, then go to medical school to become a doctor. In Europe, you go straight from high school to medical school, and you have to place into the programs from your test scores in your 12th or 13th year in school.

I wouldn't mind marrying a foreigner. But I wouldn't marry a man to use him just to get citizenship. My mom was born and raised in Poland and I always wanted to go see where she grew up and immerse myself in the culture, language and everything. I guess that would be my "excuse."

The placement programs are new to me. Is all of Europe this way? I'm wondering if dual citizenship would be an exception.

I don't think this will happen. It is too late in the game to get all the paperwork and everything set up. But it was a wild thought and I humored myself for a while. Thank you for responding, I learned something new.
