Yet Another Reason I Think that Christianity is Not Such a Good Thing

I have been convinced that the video in the previous blog was more than likely a joke video. This, however, is not.

The man in that picture is Steven L. Anderson. He is the pastor of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona. He claims to have saved hundreds of people, not only in his church, but also in his door-to-door outreach program He is the face of evil.

You can listen to the evidence here.

Here are a few exerpts from his bible-based sermon:

Pastor Steven L. Anderson wrote:

The same God who instituted the death penalty for murders is the same god who instituted the death penalty for rapists and for homosexuals, sodomites and queers!

Pastor Steven L. Anderson wrote:

Nope. I'm not gonna pray for [Barack Obama's] good. I'm going to pray that he dies and goes to hell. When I go to bed tonight, that's what I'm going to pray. And you say, 'Are you just saying that?' No. When I go to bed tonight, Steven L. Anderson is going to pray for Barack Obama to die and go to hell.

Richard Dawkins in his book, The God Delusion, claimed that labeling a child a Christian/Muslim/Jewish child was a form of child abuse. His point was that at such an early age, the children believe only what their parents teach them. They can't possibly have a rational opinion as to the validity of those beliefs. Labeling them at such an early age builds a wall that prevents other views from entering. That was what Dawkins thought was child abuse.

Many of his critics intentionally or as a knee-jerk reaction to his atheism chose to misrepresent what he said as claiming that raising a child with Christian/Muslim/Jewish beliefs is child abuse.

It is my opinion that for the most part Dawkins is wrong. I think it is inevitable that children of Christian/Muslim/Jewish families will be so labeled. I certainly has been done for my entire lifetime (58 years so far). I don't think there is any evidence that it has caused the children a great deal of harm. However, Mr. Anderson has 4 nice-looking children:

He is indoctrinating these kids with his hatred. I DO think that is child abuse.

Where is the justification for this man's hatred? It comes from the bible ... King James only. You know what is even scarier? The bible actually says exactly what he claims it does. While it is true that it says other things that directly contradicts what he says, if one is inclined like Pastor Steven L. Anderson ... one certainly can find biblical justification for that type of hateful beliefs.

Update: Here is another Christian wackaloon. The danger here is this guy is running for elective office. It would be nice if he were to come in dead last in a field of 11 candidates, but I suspect that simply because he running so blatantly as a Christian he will get quite a few votes even though his policies would be hideous. If so it will be due to the undeserved respect that religion gets in this country.

I know logical fallacies only apply to your opponents, but the link to 'listen to the evidence' points to the jpeg picture of the children that you use later as an illustration of 'child abuse.'

The internet must be part of that vast Christian conspiracy you have been called to warn everyone of, unless you are as human as any of us and just made another mistake.
