My New Friend "Ben", thanks to Tabby's Place.

I subscribe to a fantastic blog called Moderncat, and was delighted by the email I received today. Moderncat highlighted a modern-furnished no-kill shelter & hospital called Tabby's Place.

"Tabby's Place is a cage-free sanctuary that provides refuge to cats in hopeless situations. Our residents come primarily from public shelters where they had once been scheduled for euthanasia.
This one-of-a-kind facility serves as:
* An Adoption Center, finding loving homes for cats;
* A Hospital, providing medical and surgical treatment for sick or injured residents;
* A Hospice, providing palliative care and a warm, loving environment for chronically or terminally ill cats to live out their lives in comfort."

As someone that had 3 baby kittens die from FIV, and now has 2 cats with "special needs", I was elated to see a shelter work so hard to help these rescue kitties. Fuck the Christian Children's Fund, adopt a special needs cat from Tabby's Place!

I adopted Ben, a feral kitty with kidney disease & entropion. After a great deal of love, Ben now allows the workers to pet him with a cat toy. "Sweet Ben is about 8 years old and arrived with his sister Geri. The two were left behind by their family and survived outside for approximately five years in a parking lot of the building they once lived in."

What the fuck is wrong with people? At least that piece of shit family could have taken responsibility for their pets and given them to someone who would love them. People like that are despicable, and deserve to lose their house and live in a fucking parking lot, terrorized by dirty needle yielding junkies and plague infested rats.

Seriously. It's called EMPATHY.
