So I just finished having a rather political conversation with one of my best friends. Both she and I voted for Obama. Both she and i feel SEVERELY let down. We were promised all these changes, but I have yet to see any good ones. Yes, we could use cliches and excuses like "It'll get worse before it gets better" and true, he has not even been in office for a year, but as a someone who would get into heated, exhausting long arguments defending Obama's name amongst my friends, I feel like i shoved my foot in my mouth now. I feel like Obama duped us. Playing us for a bunch of fools.
The fact that he shook hands with Hugo Chavez, one of the most hated people in the world, says enough. I completly understand unity and world peace, but what happened with having good allies. He is not one of the people i want on my side of ANYTHING.
I could go on so much more.
I truly believe that people voted by choosing the lesser of the evils, as in all politics, but that still doesn't mean its a good thing.
Obama is most definitely fucking us in the ass, without lubricant I might add.

All these people think that things will change immediately after a new person is elected, but that just isn't the case. He's only human and needs time to work through the issues, even perhaps one at a time. He has made some changes, but change is slow in coming, and the wheels of the government system turn terribly slow.
And just in case you think I'm a Obama lover who will always defend him, know that I voted McCain...but was okay with the result. I say give him a little more time, then we can judge.
A good President will only fulfill approximately 20% of campaign promises. Not saying that Obama was bullshitting us during his campaign, but I am guessing just like any other politician, he might had said a thing or two that he wasn't sure himself he could promise. Now Obama was dealt a difficult hand; he was left with a country that was in a recession and a past president, George Bush, that apparently gave up on his country months; some might say years, before he was to give up his position as president. So don't go running around thinking that you can put a bandage on a deep wound in such a short time. Has anyone researched what he has done so far? From what I hear in his first 100 days he has fulfilled 21 promises and he is working on 60-something as we speak...is that just sitting around playing golf (Bush) or is that actually something? I don't know...maybe I'm wrong. Obama was accomplishing promises before he was even officially president. Just because the news publicized the "unfulfilled" promises that doesn't mean he is somewhere sticking his finger in his nose, he is working damn hard. We didn't get in the mess overnight so how the hell do we expect to get out of it overnight?

I do believe that Obama is a lot more talk than action and I disagree with more than one of his stances. However, no changes happen over night. He told the public what they wanted to hear during the elections, and now we must wait it out. If you feel let down by what he is doing, I would recomend that you write to him, or local politicians about how you think things should be getting done.

An major change takes time, but Obama has done pretty well so far. Don't give up on him until you can look back and see the results of his presidency.
