I'm starting to find the budget crisis to be a huge problem. I'm about to start my junior year at my state school in Pennsylvania, only problem is I'm finding it hard to wrap my head around the idea that I need to find a way to come up with 6k in 3 weeks. I'm currently out of a job and so is my mother so I thought to myself I should contact PHEAA about the change in income. They sent me a letter telling me the change in income didn't change my grant money due to the fact that I was either receiving the maximum my school could give or they didn't expect me to contribute the year to my education. Both of which are untrue since I've received more before and my EFC isn't 0, which even when my EFC was 0 I still had to pay for my education. I am an in-state student going to a state school and I still can't pay for college, people would be insane to give me more loans and I seem to come up empty handed with every scholarship I enter. I don't understand the system, isn't the point to help those that need to be helped? I mean it doesn't really help that PA has been debating on the budget for over a month past the deadline for it to be put in, but still they can't throw me a bone? All I'm guilty of is being a first generation college student who has divorced parents. I've even pleaded with my financial aid office. At this point i'm unsure if I can continue my education this fall :/
