PLEASE HELP MY CHILD WITH HIS TUITION!!!!!!!!

Is There a Justified Reason Why Banks That Have Been Bailed Out By The Government Won’t Help Hard Working Students Fund Their Education?

My son, Joey Deveaux, has been accepted for an internship in George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He has been to several banks and institutions to obtain a loan for the Fall 2009 internship. Stafford loans and Pell grants will not be accepted for this internship. He doesn’t have bad credit or credit cards, and he doesn’t have an established credit history. The government has given banks in the U.S. bailout funds, and it seems as though they are not willing to help students that are trying to advance their education in hopes of helping others with their knowledge to better the future generations of the world.

He is in need of twenty thousand dollars for this internship. Thank you in advance for your consideration and kindness. It will be greatly appreciated. He will be seeking this internship in journalism to become a better person and to use his profession to help others.

I have been taught to never post personal ways of contact, like mailing address, e-mail, or phone numbers in a place where many strangers can find it and potentially do harm. Just a precaution.

On another note, I've seen enough of these "I need money, so you should contribute" blogs to make my head spin. The majority of us here, at ProgU, either need scholarships or aren't independently wealthy, so helping an absolute stranger is pretty out of the question.

Plus, we have no proof of this. Since when did you have to pay for an internship? And tuition is for schooling, not internships.

I don't think you'll get much help here. Sorry.

I had to pay for an externship for my certification, because the school was providing the contract and taking responsibility for me by providing worker's comp and whatnot. The program she is talking about is run through George Washington University. It costs about 18K for the Fall and Spring semesters, and about 10K for the summer semester. I don't understand why federal loans aren't available, though, since it's a program through the university and consists of actual credit hours, not just the internship. The total for the program is 9 hours, so if he can't get loans because he's only a part-time student, then he just needs to enroll in another evening class during the week.

Why isn't your son proactively looking for the money? It bothers me that so many parents are still "helicoptering" over their college age children.

Asking for money is nothing. Just wait until they start screaming at professors over grades, or Residential Life over quiet hours, or the UPS Store/Mail Room employees because they came at 9pm to pick up a package and the store was, God forbid, closed for the day.

I've seen it all. And more. So much more. It makes me die a little bit inside.

My supervisor had someone's mom call to beg her to reschedule an interview. The girl called to reschedule, because she for some reason couldn't make it, and our supervisor said she didn't have any other slots open, sorry. So, her mom called a few hours later trying to convince her to get an interview. Needless to say, that application will go in the trash each time a position hits from now on out...
